SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — She was a self-described "adrenaline junkie," and he took "wow-worthy photos" of the couple posing at the edge of cliffs and jumping from planes that appeared on social media and a travel blog that attracted thousands of followers.In one post at the Grand Canyon this spring, 30-year-old Meenakshi Moorthy even warned daredevils who try to snap selfies from dangerous heights: "Did you know that wind gusts can be FATAL???" SAN ONOFRE (CNS) - Authorities Thursday were searching for a hit-and-run motorist who struck and killed a pedestrian on Interstate 5 in the far northern reaches of San Diego County.Dispatchers received a call shortly before 6:40 a.m. from a person who reported seeing a body off of southbound Interstate 5 just south of Cristianitos Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Smale said.Officers responded to the area and found a pedestrian lying near the highway, Smale said, adding that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.No details about the victim or the vehicle involved were immediately available.Officers shut down the onramp from Cristianitos Road to southbound I-5 and the right two lanes of southbound I-5 north of Basilone Road to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.Anyone with information regarding the crash was asked to call the Oceanside CHP office at (760) 643-4300. 921

The proposed ballot measure would repeal the controversial voter-approved statewide ban that's been blamed for a decline in diversity in the prestigious university system. The vote Monday by the university system's Board of Regents means the UC endorses a proposal that would ask voters in November to repeal 1996's Proposition 209 that banned “preferential treatment” for minority groups applying to state colleges and government jobs.
