Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, a Republican, blasted President Donald Trump in an op-ed for the Detroit Free Press published Thursday morning and said he will be voting for Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. In his writing, Snyder explains that he has remained a lifelong Republican and will still support Republican candidates, but will not support the president."President Trump lacks a moral compass. He ignores the truth," Snyder wrote, after calling Trump a bully.Snyder talked about the economy's growth during Trump's first term as president and said some reforms have been helpful but called his tax reform a "failure.""It didn't have real long-term value, enriched large corporations and violated the basic principles of good tax reform to be simple, fair and efficient," Snyder wrote.According to Snyder, not supporting the president isn't the same thing as voting for Joe Biden.Snyder then went on to describe his interactions with Biden when Biden was vice president."My interactions were always constructive and respectful. He has shown the desire to heal a deeply divided nation; has demonstrated strong moral character and empathy; and he seems willing to listen to people who have different perspectives from his own," Snyder wrote. He added that he will still support Republican candidates at the local, state, and federal levels and encouraged people to have relentless positive action. This story was originally published by Max White on WXYZ in Detroit. 1500

Former prisoners are helping former prisoners break in to college courses.  The Urban Scholars Union is a relatively new organization created by ex-cons for ex-cons looking to better themselves through education. USU’s President Cesar Garcia said they started 18 months ago at San Diego City College to help “justice impacted” students succeed. “[We want to] empower them and motivate them to be productive members of society,” said Garcia. “We’re not monsters that they make us out to feel and make us out to be,” said San Diego City College student Ryan Rising. “We’re humans that made poor choices.” Rising spent 15 years behind bars for carjacking and attempted extortion but will matriculate to Cal Berkley on a scholarship after earning his Associate’s at City.“I’m super proud of myself,” he said. Garcia, who served seven years for a list of crimes, said the USU provides a space for former prisoners to get help, guidance, and support. The organization recently expanded to Southwestern College and is working on helping students at Mesa and Grossmont Colleges. USU also recently received its largest donation to date.  Current prisoners at Donovan Correctional in Otay Mesa donated ,000 to USU for scholarships and grants for former prisoners. “It just goes to show you how we do look out for each other,” said Garcia. “We just need go out and advocate to erase all these stigmas,” said Rising. 1470

Former Fleetwood Mac singer and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is suing the band for making him go his own way.In court documents obtained by CNN, Buckingham claims that lost an estimated million in upcoming tour proceeds?after he was involuntarily expelled from Fleetwood Mac in January. He is suing Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood for breach of fiduciary duty and breach of oral contract. It's not entirely clear what led to Buckingham's departure from the group, though his suit outlines debate about touring schedules.Fleetwood Mac was originally founded in 1967 by Peter Green and was named after two of its band members, Fleetwood and John McVie. Green left the band in 1969. Buckingham joined in 1974, the same year as Nicks, Fleetwood Mac's lead singer.Buckingham wrote some of the band's most well-known songs, including "Go Your Own Way," which was the lead single off the band's highly successful 1977 album, "Rumours."Fleetwood Mac has had a tumultuous history. The group took a hiatus in 1982 and when they agreed to go back on tour in 1987, Buckingham backed out at the last minute. In 1998, Christine McVie left the band and later rejoined in 2014."Everything that we wore on our sleeve, the discord and nature of the band, was the people breaking up, the dysfunction," Buckingham told CNN at a MusiCares event, days before he found out the band would be touring without him. "Right below all of that dysfunction is a great, great deal of love."CNN has reached out to Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac's representatives for comment. 1585

For the first time, the FDA has given authorization for a test that will detect for both coronavirus and influenza infections. The test by Quest Diagnostics can be performed at home under doctor’s approval. Patients can collect a sample at home and ship it to a Quest Diagnostics laboratory for analysis, the FDA says.“Today’s authorization for a COVID-19 plus flu test using samples collected at home is a significant step toward FDA’s nationwide response to COVID-19. With the authorization of this test, the FDA is helping to address the ongoing fight against COVID-19 while in the middle of the flu season, which is important for many, including the most vulnerable of Americans. This is another example of the FDA working with test developers to bring important diagnostics to Americans,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen M. Hahn.“With just one swab or sample, combination tests that are authorized for use with home-collected samples can be used to get answers to Americans faster, in the comfort and relative safety of their home, which allows patients to continue to quarantine while awaiting results. This efficiency can go a long way to providing timely information for those sick with an unknown respiratory ailment,” Hahn added. The coronavirus and flu can offer similar symptoms, such as cough, fever and difficulty breathing. 1342

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl after they say she was behind the wheel of a car that reversed into a patrol car twice -- once with the officer inside -- and led them on a pursuit before crashing into a fence. The girl is facing several felony charges.Police say they were called to a local RaceTrac on Saturday to investigate a suspicious car. When they got on scene, they found a 14-year-old girl behind the wheel. They say she then reversed into the patrol car twice, the second time while the officer was inside, then took off.She led police on a nearly mile-long pursuit until she crashed her car into a fence. The panel of the metal fence was destroyed. Shyvonne Jackson said he was leaving work when he saw the commotion. "Someone could have got hurt. Some kids could have gotten hurt. Somebody could have got their life taken away," he said. The girl is now facing multiple charges, including 10 counts of hit-and-run with property damage and six counts of aggravated battery on an officer.  1090
