Altogether, there’s nine of them in our neighborhood,” said Jennifer Quadrozzi, who lives in Massachusetts. “They were super excited. It sounded like a vacation to them. They had two weeks off, but that turned into the rest of the school year.”Quadrozzi and her 7-year-old daughter spent the end of the school year and all summer socially distancing with a group of parents and kids in their community.“We call ourselves ‘The Bubble,’” said Quadrozzi.To keep her daughter protected in their bubble, she has become one of the many parents around the country considering micro-schooling for the upcoming school year.“Right now, there are three families that are considering it. That age range would be from first grade to third grade, and we would follow the curriculum that was developed by our community, our schools,” added Quadrozzi.With micro-schooling, a few families join together to create a homeschooling pod. Quadrozzi is planning on converting her daughter’s playroom into the classroom. They’re leaning towards paying an educational facilitator to teach the children during the week.“That could be anyone from a retired teacher, to a teacher’s aide, to anyone who got laid off,” said Quadrozzi.One of the concerns around micro-schooling pods is that there are many parents who can’t afford to pay someone else to teach their kids. However, there are some parents finding a way to make micro-schooling pods more affordable.“I am a stay-at-home mom and I realize I am very fortunate to be able to do that, but the other parents in our pod are working parents,” said Gentel Larochelle.Larochelle’s pod has each parent teaching their group of five kids, one day of the week.Not only is their micro-schooling pod model more cost-effective, but it frees up time for some parents who have to work.“If this is something that parents want to do, the options are there for them it just takes a little creativity and a little bit of sacrifice,” Larochelle added.Pods can be formed, organically, with your friends and family, or there are Facebook groups now forming in almost every state around the country where parents are making connections.These two Massachusetts moms have learned the key to creating a pod is starting your search early. You’ll need time to talk with other parents that may be in your group about mostly creating a set of rule or pact for your pod, especially around social distancing outside the created classroom. Because the main reason for micro-schooling is to give kids some socialization while reducing their health risks.“My genuine hope is that this is a one-year thing and that by next fall, things are much, much different,” said Larochelle. 3165

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KGTV) -- Federal agents are in the process of seizing hundreds of guns from a home in a wealthy Los Angeles neighborhood, according to KABC. ATF agents could be seen laying out hundreds, possibly even thousands of guns in the Holmby Hills neighborhood near Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Glen. Many of the weapons appeared in a live video to be rifles. No details have so far been provided by ATF. The agency did say that it executed the search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation. MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Air National Guard officials said they are shocked and saddened by the loss of Lt. Col. Shelli Huether, Capt. Jessica Wright and Senior Master Sgt. Scott Bumpus.The three national guardsmen died in a plane crash Tuesday afternoon in McMinnville. They were members of the Tennessee Air National Guard’s 118th Wing.They were all members of the 118th Intelligence, Survelliance, and Reconnassiance Group. Lt. Col. Shelli Huether was the director of operations for the 118th Intelligence Support Squadron. Capt. Jessica Wright was the assistant director of operations for the 118th ISS and Senior Master Sgt. Scott Bumpus was chief of current operations for the 236th Intelligence Squadron.On Wednesday Col. Todd Wiles, commander of the 118th Wing, said in a press release, "Words can not begin to explain the shock, grief, pain and dismay we feel having lost three remarkable members of our Guard family. All three were dedicated to the service of our nation. Their families are in our hearts and our prayers.”Col. Wiles says all three participated in missions that saved lives in Tennessee. Their squadron took aerial photos during the Gatlinburg Wildfires and the March 2020 Middle Tennessee tornadoes to help with rescues and intelligence long before boots could be on the ground.Two of the 118th Wing fatalities had spouses who also serve in the unit. Wiles says his heart aches for their immediate family members. "That door will never open for those children to their Mom, Dad, see their husbands and wives come home," Wiles said. "It's truly as painful as a combat loss even though it was an off duty tragedy the hurt to the families is the same."The single-engine Piper PA-28 civilian airplane went down near Warren County Memorial Airport in McMinnville, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.Witness told investigators with the NTSB that the aircraft took off from airport but was seen trying to maneuver back to the airport before crashing.Tennessee Governor Bill Lee also reacted to the crash saying, "We are incredibly saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of three Airmen in yesterday’s accident. Michigan bars and restaurants must now collect names and phone numbers of customers for COVID-19 contact tracing under an extended epidemic order, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced today.Health officials said these are requirements and the businesses must operate under the rules to protect public health.The new provision was just one of the extensions of the epidemic order from the MDHHS aimed at helping contain the spread of the virus.
