The Apple Fire began as two separate fires Friday evening in Cherry Valley, an unincorporated area near the city of Beaumont in Riverside County. As of 8:00 p.m. Saturday, the fire was 12,000 acres and remained 0% contained, according to Cal Fire. The fire has destroyed one home. Authorities said homes are in the path of the flames but they're not in imminent danger.
