CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa says he doesn't have a drinking problem. He also says he has to prove that with his behavior. The 76-year-old La Russa has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge to resolve misdemeanor drunken driving charges stemming from his arrest nearly 10 months ago on a freeway in metro Phoenix. La Russa said he feels "deep remorse and regret" about what happened. He underwent 20 hours of alcohol counseling after his arrest, which he described as "very helpful." 513

A vacation home to Leo Carrillo from the TV show "The Cisco Kid." Once a massive ranch, now transformed into an 1800 acre city park in Carlsbad. Mick Calarco, Project Manager with the City of Carlsad calls the park a "manifestation of Carrillo's childhood dreams." Million- dollar homes now surround the park, but it was once a sprawling and working ranch with livestock and wild animals. Peacocks still roam the property, original descendants of the birds Carrillo bought for the ranch."You can truly lose yourself out here," said Calarco. The old adobe buildings have been beautifully restored to their original splendor. Carrillo bought the property in 1937. His famous friends, including Clark Gable would often visit the ranch. In every building you can see Carrillo's vision for preserving early ranch architecture. Adobe was a central theme in Leo's remembrance of of his childhood ranches. After Carrillo's daughter, Tony, left the estate, the buildings began to fall apart. The City of Carlsbad acquired the remaining 10.5-acre ranch in 1977. It now serves as a park to educate and advocate for ranch preservation and restoration. The park is open daily 9 A.M.- 5 p.m. 1359

CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — Thursday's heavy storm caused significant damage in the North County Plaza shopping center in Carlsbad, particularly to Homeroom Hourly Child Care. Homeroom's owner tells 10News that current estimates are it will take six weeks to repair all the damage to the interior."I was pretty pessimistic last night," assistant director Erin Devries told 10News. "I just thought this place was a complete loss."RELATED: Video: Heavy rain leads to flooding across San Diego CountyDevries said there were seven or eight children present Thursday afternoon when one of the children noticed water leaking from the ceiling. Shorty after, tiles began falling from the ceiling, along with a deluge of rain. Out of fear of danger from a soaked electrical system, the teachers turned out the lights, then evacuated the children from the building, seeking shelter in the Orange Theory gym next door. A crew worked late into the night pumping out the water. "Seeing all the stuff they can fix. Six weeks sounds insanely long, but it's better than having to close down indefinitely."Devries says Homeroom's unexpected closure is putting their clients in a tough position.
