CHICAGO, Ill. – A futuristic innovation is changing the way doctors set broken bones. A startup company called Cast21 has created a new type of cast that completely overhauls its plaster and fiberglass predecessors. It takes just minutes to put on and lets patients enjoy an active life, even allowing them to swim and shower with it.A couple of weeks ago, 12-year-old Jett Karrick took a hard fall during a basketball game.“He went over and stopped himself with his left hand and he ended up having a bicortical radius fracture,” said his father Tony.A trip to the emergency room put him in a traditional fiberglass cast, but he was instantly unhappy.“Was itching quite a bit,” said Karrick. “He didn't like the way it smelled, the whole drama associated with getting in the shower and the garbage bag.”An internet search led the Karricks to the innovative new cast, a futuristic sleeve that's waterproof, lightweight and breathable.“This product is completely waterproof. You can wash your hands, shower, jump into a hot tub, go to the beach, and it'll dry right off afterwards,” said Ashley Moy, CEO and co-founder of Cast21. The company believes it could make smelly and itchy plaster casts a thing of the past.The casts start with a flexible hollow net sleeve.“So, we're going to be able to move your arm and whatever orientation we need to best keep the bones and fractures in place,” said Moy.Then a proprietary liquid is pumped into the cast’s tubes.“The liquid is going to take up any of the negative space that you had in there so that we can get a really acute and comfortable fit for you,” she said.Within minutes, the cast hardens.Earlier this week, Jett got his old cast removed and a Cast21 as a replacement.“This cast just gives me a lot more freedom. It lets my hand breathe and it doesn't stink as bad.”Nine-months into production and Cast21 is available in 13 states. While the Karrick family's insurance is covering the high-tech cast, costs can depend on the individual provider.“Our process is also way more efficient to apply and remove,” said Moy. “It's about six times quicker to put on and it only takes seconds to remove.”No saw is needed.And while the immobilization net is currently only available for lower arm fractures, the company says they are currently in research and development on new sleeves for other limbs. 2355

Not every app has the same restaurants on them, so you might have to use an app that has the restaurant of your liking.Door Dash was the simplest app to use because there weren’t that many choices or suggestions to help you choose what to eat.Eat 24, like many of the other apps offered food categories like American, Asian and Mexican to help you narrow down your choices.We found when placing your order on each app you had to add your credit card and address, but for Uber Eats you did not. If you have an Uber Ride Share account, it's automatically synced up to that app. It cut the ordering time in half if you were a new user.Although we used Postmates for ordering food, we learned you can use the app for ordering anything. Some use Postmates to order clothes to be picked up or getting an item from the drug store delivered to their house.No matter which app you use there’s a place to save money by adding a promo code. But, you’ll need to watch out for hidden service fees outside of the usual delivery and tax fee.A great feature all the apps have are alerts or push notifications letting you know where your food is and when it will be delivered.Almost every app delivered the food we ordered 10 minutes earlier than their estimated arrival time. CHANDLER, Ariz. - A woman in the East Valley of Arizona was stung by bees more than 200 times and a few fellow runners just happened to be in the right place--and the right time--to help.Usually cooler weather keeps bees away, but with more trees and flowers in bloom after the recent rain, experts say the bees are sticking around."I was taking my dog out for a walk, it's a normal route," said Marisa Brazil.Her daily routine along Paseo Trail in Chandler took a terrifying turn Monday morning."She was starting to flail her arms and I kind of looked at my best friend, Julie, and said, 'she's either having a really good time or something's happening,'" Brazil said.It did not take long for both women to realize something terrible was happening to the runner ahead of them on the trail."She was really screaming, like loud," said Julie Sternberg. The trained lifeguard ran to help while Brazil called 911."I tried to run up the other side and then some bees came at me," Sternberg said.Sternberg was stung on her head as the bees forced her back. She then saw two other strangers battling their way forward."They kept retreating. So at that point once I figured out there was bees, I figured out that's why. I saw one guy kept moving back," said Sternberg. "She was still screaming the whole entire time, so it was pretty scary," said Brazil.First responders eventually took over. The woman who was stung posted to Facebook from her hospital bed, thanking the strangers who tried to help. The woman who was stung is expected to recover. CAMP PENDLETON (KGTV) - A training accident on Camp Pendleton that left several Marines with severe burns may have been caused by an exposed gas line, a report from the Washington Post indicated Friday.Camp Pendleton officials said Marines from 1st Marine Division were conducting "scheduled battalion training" on land when a vehicle caught fire September 12.The 15 Marines were taken to various area hospitals.The vehicle involved was identified as an Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) used to transport Marines from sea to land. The AAV performed a maneuver which caused it to run over a gas line, sever it with its tire treads, and ignite the line, the Washington Post reported.The official report on the fire has not yet been released by the Marine Corps. 777
