Between the flowing lava and toxic gas that are forcing evacuations, the Kilauea eruption feels like a never-ending emergency for the people who live in the Puna district on Hawaii's big island.Evacuated residents are allowed into the neighborhood to check on their homes for a period each day -- 7am until 6pm -- conditions permitting. Outside her driveway, the road is buckling with cracks. Behind her one-acre lot and across the street, a fissure has opened. Thank you, Pele," Welch said, referring to the goddess believed to live in the caldera of Kilauea. "My house is a couple feet away from fissure number nine, so we have to have our gas masks on. The price has skyrocketed since this announcement.Eble Park Ice Arena in Brookfield, Wisconsin has been using this type of freon since it opened nearly 30 years ago.The facility is owned by the Waukesha County Park System. The county has made about 0,000 in upgrades to this ice rink.Waukesha County Park System Director Duane Grimm said that is a far better deal than switching over to a common chemical used these days, such as ammonia."This will save us money to replace all the chiller plant here we would also have to replace the floor all the piping under the floor," Grimm said. "If we did this you're kind of looking at million to .5 million.This may affect you at home. Air conditioning units before the 2010 cutoff most likely still use the outdated refrigerant, if you spot 'R-22' or 'R-410A' on your compressor unit.You could still buy some recycled R-22 after the cutoff date in two years. Billions in business pass back and forth between the United States and Mexico. A new trade agreement to manage that trade kicks in this week. “You know, we were doing anywhere between 30 and 30 plus billion dollars worth of cross border trade here in the last five, six, seven years, I think that that number is only poised to increase," Jaime Chamberlain told KGUN. Chamberlain owns Chamberlain Distributing, a packing house that brings tons of produce from Mexico and he chairs the port authority for Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The USMCA, the US, Mexico, Canada Agreement that officially kicks in this week replaces NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement and does things like modernizing record keeping for the digital age.Chamberlain says cross border trade does not mean U.S. jobs going to Mexico. He says, It’s a two-way highway that helps both sides.“There's a tremendous amount of American products going into Mexico. In fact, the majority of the raw products going into make a lot of the products coming out of Mexico especially out of the Maquila industry are American based companies that are supplying that raw product into Mexico.”Josh Rubin’s company Javid LLC/Javid De Mexico operates many of those Maquilas--factories U.S. companies operate in Mexico. He says, “I represent 27 different facilities over 3500 employees here in Nogales, Mexico, for our customers.”Customs charges are based on where a product is made. Rubin says one of the challenges under USMCA is defining country of origins when the parts come from all over the world.He holds up a pen as an example as says, “The metal from the pen might come from one country or from one location, the spring might come from another location, the plastic around the pen might come from somewhere else that he might come from somewhere else.”Rubin says some companies may feel they’re better off just paying ordinary customs duties and avoid record keeping and other requirements of USMCA, especially if they make small items that result in small customs fees.There is an element of wait and see for some companies especially as US Customs and Border Protection works out exactly how it will enforce the new trade rules.This story originally reported by Craig Smith on KGUN9.com. 2263

BERLIN, Pa. -- A National Guardsman is accused of making threats to kill Vice President Mike Pence before his visit to Pennsylvania for the annual observance of the Flight 93 crash. William Robert Dunbar, 22, of Berlin, Pennsylvania was charged Saturday with disorderly conduct and terroristic threats.According to a criminal complaint filed against Dunbar, he was on duty at the U.S. Army National Guard Training center in Richland Township when he said, “If someone pays me enough money, I will kill the vice president.”Witnesses said they contacted commanding officers after they heard Dunbar threaten to "kill" or "murder" the vice president on at least two separate occasions. The witnesses told police they were "fearful" of the threats Dunbar made and contacted their commanding officer immediately. Police said Dunbar was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for evaluation and then released into the custody of Richland Police. He is being held in the county prison in lieu of 0,000 bond.  1035

(KGTV) -- Raad and Nisreen Stephan have owned Giant Pizza King in Bonita for 22 years.Nisreen Stephan said their store is their livelihood and only source of income."We are here seven days a week," Nisreen Stephan said. Their kids, now grown, also used to help out in the store.They say they are being forced out because of a dispute with their landlord. A drive-thru Starbucks is planned to replace their store, according to the Stephans."It is very stressful. Imagine that you are here for 22 years... and all of a sudden, they want to kick you out of your place," Raad Stephan said.He said the owners of the Bonnie Brae Center want them out to make room for the new Starbucks. The current Starbucks location is already in the same plaza at the corner of Central and Bonita Road."It is nonsense because Starbucks now, their location is the best in the shopping center," Raad Stephan said.The dispute will now play out in court. In the unlawful detainer lawsuit filed by Alcott Estates, L.P., it states that the lease expired in June 2016. Raad Stephan said he signed a lease that gave him the option of a five-year extension and the shopping center owners are not honoring that. There is no set court date to the lawsuit, but some of the loyal customers have told the owners that when there is, they will show up to the hearing.In the meantime, the couple is doing what they can to stay positive, thankful for their customers who have supported them throughout the years."We are a part of a family, a big family in Bonita.
