BARCELONA -- For adventure-seekers and travelers, the pandemic has put a damper on outdoor excursions. But for one filmmaker in Barcelona, a canceled family ski trip turned into an opportunity to bring adventure home to his living room.Philipp Klein Herrero is fanatical about skiing.“I am always skiing,” he said. “It's my passion.”So, when the pandemic lockdown forced him to cancel a long-planned family ski trip to France, the filmmaker decided to create a video for them.“I wanted to send them love from where I am and that's how the idea came about.”He taped a GoPro to his ceiling and cleared the room, bringing to life the adventure of a lifetime – on his living room floor.“It starts with me waking up on the side of the mountain in my sleeping bag and having my skis right next to me,” he said. “Once, it gets too steep to walk I switch into ice-climbing mode.”Over the next six and a half hours Klein painstakingly captured this stop-motion odyssey – one frame at a time. He used bed sheets for the side of the mountain.“And of course, nowadays the first thing you do when you reach the summit is you cheer and then take some selfies,” he said.The 57 second film has gone viral, making international headlines.“It just went absolutely crazy from there on,” he said.Klein says his only true desire was to spread a message of hope, inspiring others in challenging times.When asked what the most important thing that he wants people to take away from watching his video, he said that we all have to stay positive.“We have a tricky situation among us, and we literally don’t know how it’s going to end up, but it’s within us to make the best out of it.”He’s proving adventure can be found just about anywhere. 1724

Brookstone filed for bankruptcy and will close its remaining 101 mall stores.The mall and airport seller, best known for massage chairs, quirky gadgets, and travel luggage, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in federal court on Thursday. It was Brookstone's second bankruptcy filing in four years.The company will keep its 35 airport stores and website open and running while it attempts to find a buyer. It has secured a million loan to finance operations during the sale.Brookstone's CEO said in a statement that its airport and online businesses were successful, but an "extremely challenging retail environment at malls" forced the company to close its stores there.Unabated traffic losses at malls have plagued brick-and-mortar sellers. Mall vacancies reached a six-year high last quarter as a wave of stores closed, including Walgreens, Bon-Ton, Sears and Kmart, Best Buy, Kay and Jared, Matress Firm, and GNC."They're trapped in hundreds of these B and C malls, whose traffic has been in serial decline," said Mark Cohen, the director of retail studies at Columbia Business School. BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- A Brooksville, Florida elementary school gave all of its teachers pink slips on Friday, the school district said it's an effort to make the school better."It should’ve came from the school. Not have to hear the news through Facebook," said father Andrew Beck. Facebook is how he found out that all the teachers at his children’s school were given pink slips. The school, Moton Elementary, which is a "Double D" school and the lowest performing school in Hernando County.During a faculty meeting on Friday teachers were notified they would be done working at Moton after the school year. Tenured teachers are to be reassigned.The district says they made the announcement before the end of the school year to give non-tenured teachers time to look for other jobs.  "To see what many of them are going through right now, its heartbreaking," said Megan Oates, a former Moton teacher. Megan Oates and Bridie Jones both taught at Moton for more than 10 years before quitting last year."I no longer felt like I had the support that I needed to do my job," said Jones. Bridie Jones owns Lake Lindsey Mall and Deli where both teachers now work.They say they’re much happier without the stress and pressure they faced from the constant critiquing of teaching at Moton."It was a lot of stress. Every day you had a different administrator walk into your room. They were looking for a reason that Moton was a "D" school and they came in and picked us apart every single day," said Jones.But they say it isn’t the teacher’s fault. BONSALL, Calif. (KGTV) – A man was killed following a DUI-related crash on State Route 76 New Year’s Day, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP says the head-on crash happened on the SR-76 near Monserate at 3:54 a.m. Tuesday. According to CHP, a 25-year-old man living at Camp Pendleton was driving a Lexus eastbound in the westbound lanes of the 76 when he struck a man riding a motorcycle. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital with minor scratches and later arrested after CHP says he was determined to be under the influence. 592
