IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - It's easy to see Imperial Beach is a surf town. But if you look hard enough - something else is trying to take over.Limebike is a tech company that deals in two wheels.It's been a busy week for Colin McMahon, a manager at Limebike."On Friday we started rolling them out through all the weekend and now we are up to 200 bikes through operations," McMahon said.Limebike's mobile app is launching in Imperial Beach, its eighth city."A lot of curiosity so almost every time we brought a bike out of the truck people were asking what is this bike how does it work," McMahon said.Riders download the app, enter their credit card number and scan the back of the bike they want to ride.Even 4th grader, Jacquin Hallaway, can figure it out."I think it's fun that you can like rent a bike," Hallaway said.Unfortunately, not everyone has been behaving with the bikes.Someone in Seattle stuck one on a power pole but don't count out San Diego's shenanigans."There was one that was thrown off the pier. (KGTV) -- It appears the “Don Juan” thief one woman says loves stealing from women on first dates is a wanted man.Last Friday, 10news recounted Elizabeth’s so-called “date from hell.”  Elizabeth, 23, says the man is a good-looking guy in his late 20s who was a Facebook friend for two years.  They had mutual friends in common but had never met. RELATED: 'Don Juan' thief targeting women, some on first datesHe messaged her recently, asking her out to a sushi lunch. She agreed, but during the drive, she says he fidgeted with his blinkers and asked her to exit the SUV to make sure they were working. IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — Imperial Beach is closing off traffic in front of the IB Pier in order to help businesses and restaurants utilize more space for social distancing.The city says Seacoast Drive, from Date Avenue to Elder Ave., will be closed to motorists from Saturday to Monday so that not only residents can social distance, but nearby retail stores and restaurants can get creative with spacing."With many businesses able to reopen to customers, we will see some 'out of the box' thinking from our businesses to maximize their area to increase spacial distancing," the city wrote on Facebook.RELATED:Pacific Beach's El Prez shut down for violating health ordersWhat to know: Changes at beaches, restaurants this Memorial Day weekendWith many retail stores and restaurants reopened this Memorial Day weekend, local cities expect more residents to head outdoors.While restaurants have been allowed to reopen under county guidelines, some establishments may see the county force them to close if they do not meet protocols. IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - A man was arrested Saturday in Imperial Beach after residents say he rushed into a home and wrecked their bathroom, leaving blood everywhere. Resident Miguel Ledesma said their front door was open to let in the breeze, "I heard some noise behind me and I turned around and the door was wide open, so I saw him rush through." The man was mumbling about being chased. Ledesma said the man backed up, tripping over the Christmas tree, knocking it over in the process, and went into the bathroom. Ledesma said that's when his brother shut the door to protect the family."There were screams, the lady who lives in there she was screaming pretty loudly," Neighbor Matthew Rodriguez said."We started hearing all these noises, all the breaking, the mirror, the shower curtain, everything in there is destroyed, there's bloody pretty much," Ledesma said. Officers finally removed the man, handcuffing him. The man was later loaded into an ambulance.He had visible cuts on his neck and arms, and a bandage around his head. Ledesma said he came in without a scratch and left bloody."It was pretty scary because we didn't know what he was going to do before the cops showed up," Rodriguez said."We're all okay, he didn't take anything, he just destroyed the bathroom pretty much," Ledesma said. He said they reached out to the property manager to get the bathroom fixed, but his mother was already cleaning with bleach. 1440
