SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Recent changes at the border are being felt as President Trump considers a total border shutdown to combat the immigration crisis. Customs and Border Protection officials announced the reduction of the commercial lanes at Otay Mesa from 10 lanes to 8 Tuesday. “4 to 5 hours,” said one driver who added another man in his fleet took more than 6 hours to make it across Wednesday. Companies say drivers are missing deadlines or just skipping the day altogether to avoid the delays. “They lose millions,” said driver Benjamin Alfaro on the already cumbersome process taking even longer, “so if they don’t do that in the normal time of course they lose money. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents are being evacuated after a gas leak in City Heights Wednesday afternoon. According to authorities, the gas leak happened on the 3600 block of 36th Street. Crews working in the area hit the gas line, causing the leak. It's unclear at this time how many residents are being evacuated.  337

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police have identified the man shot and killed near a downtown parking garage in early December as 37-year-old Samuel Burkhalter.The shooting happened on the 1400 block of G Street around 10 p.m. on December 1.Police say they received several calls reporting gunshots in the area. After arriving, officers found Burkhalter at the entrance to a parking garage in the area. Officers provided first aid until relieved by San Diego Fire-Rescue, but say Burkhalter died at the scene.Investigators say a light-skinned man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a black hat was seen running through the garage after the shooting. The suspect was later identified as Tyler Cosby, 23. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego health officials Monday night confirmed the county’s first presumptive positive case of coronavirus. Dr. Wilma Wooten said the woman, who is in her 50s, tested positive after traveling overseas to an unspecified location and time."The case and exposure details are under investigation," Wooten said.The woman, a San Diego County resident, is in the hospital and is doing well, according to Wooten. Scripps Health officials confirmed that the patient is being treated at Scripps Green Hospital.Scripps Health also said: "As a cautionary measure, we have taken immediate steps to identify staff who may have been exposed and place them on home quarantine as appropriate with our full support, and we will provide additional staffing as needed. We are also assisting the county in identifying anyone not on Scripps’ staff who may have been exposed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego City Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry is calling for an audit of a city-leased building repeatedly shuttered over asbestos.The building at 101 Ash Street was closed Saturday and city employees were relocated for "the next few weeks" over asbestos violations, Bry said in a memo. Bry added that she received an update on June 17, 2019 that the project at the location remained "on schedule and within budget" after she requested an update 10 days prior."It is apparent that 101 Ash Street is neither on-time nor on-budget.
