TORRANCE, Calif. (CNS) - Police Monday announced the arrest of a 47-year-old parolee accused in the shooting deaths of three men during a fight at a bowling alley in Torrance.The arrest of Reginald Wallace of Los Angeles, who had been on parole since 2017 following a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon involving a firearm, was announced by Torrance police Chief Eve Irvine at a Monday afternoon news conference at police headquarters.Wallace was arrested early Sunday and was being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, according to sheriff's inmate records. Officers responded to a shots-fired call just before midnight Friday at Gable House Bowl, 22501 Hawthorne Blvd. Three men were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. Two other men sought medical attention on their own.Irvine said a fight involving a few people grew into a brawl involving as many as 15. At some point, Wallace pulled a handgun from his pocket and fired into the crowd, Irvine alleged, adding that he was believed to have been the only shooter.Witness Dana Scott previously told reporters that a group of women got into a fight inside the building, then some men got involved. About a minute later, gunshots erupted, Scott said.Another witness, who refused to give his name, said a fight erupted and he heard nine gunshots.Wes Hamad, a 29-year-old Torrance resident, said he saw a ``huge fight'' break out that lasted about five minutes, blocked the entrance of the bowling alley and devolved into ``complete chaos.''``I grabbed my niece and started running toward the far end of the bowling alley,'' he said. ``As we were running, we heard 15 shots.'' Killed were Michael Radford, 20, and Robert ``Tank'' Meekins and Astin Edwards, both 28 and best friends. Meekins leaves behind a 5-year-old son, whose godfather was Edwards.``When I go home and tell him that his daddy's not coming back, it's going to break his heart because he's a daddy's boy, always has been,'' said Meekins' mother, Anglean Hubbard. ``And I wonder the person that sat up here and took all of these people's lives, how is he sleeping? How is he dealing with that? He took somebody's father. Somebody's son. I just want justice for my son and all the people in there.''Relatives of all three victims told reporters they believed the men were killed while trying to break up the fight. THORNTON, Colo. – Police in Wyoming have arrested a Thornton, Colo. man after he walked into their station and told them he had killed his girlfriend in Colorado and driven her body across state lines to Wyoming.Thornton police said Jonathan Eugene Akin, 22, was in custody of the Powell (Wyo.) Police Department after being arrested for investigation on a first-degree murder charge on Tuesday. Jail records indicate he also faces a felony charge of mutilation of a dead body.Thornton police say they were called by Powell police just before noon Tuesday and asked to conduct a welfare check on a woman at an apartment at the Champion’s Park Apartments. Powell police told Thornton police that Akin had come into their department claiming his dead girlfriend was in his vehicle.While Thornton officers were checking the apartment, Powell police confirmed the woman’s body was found inside Akin’s vehicle. Thornton police confirmed the apartment was a crime scene, Sgt. Ernie Lucero said in a news release.Akin is being held at the Park County (Wyo.) Sheriff’s Office while he awaits a hearing to be extradited back to Colorado to face charges. "And that he's out here every day to make sure that that doesn't happen again."Her K-9 Qquappe is named in honor of Lincoln Quappe, a first response firefighter in New York City who died in the 9-11 terrorist attacks."What did you think when you found out where his name came from?" Correspondent Kumasi Aaron asked Sherwin. "I had no idea that they had that program."Qquappe is just one of hundreds of dogs that were named after 911 victims as a part of the TSA Puppy Program from 2002 to 2012. From the moment Sherwin found out, every scent, every sniff with Qquappe took on new meaning."It took a minute to digest that because that's a big responsibility," Sherwin says. "You're taking on someones namesake like that and you want to be the best that you can be so you can uphold it. To the honor that they did."It meant even more when Sherwin met one of Lincoln Quappe's childhood friends, and sent pictures of Qquappe to his family."It hit home," Sherwin says. "It really hit's home with all the victims because it's not just a name that's there. You're actually talking to somebody that knew this person and grew up with them and knew all about them."While Qquappe might not understand the significance of his name, Sherwin says he embodies the same desire to protect and serve as his namesake."He's such a people lover," Sherwin says. "He loves children. He loves his job."And working alongside Qquappe, with everything he and his name represent, makes Sherwin love hers even more."Does it give you a sense of pride?"
