A Washington man who followed the Pittsburgh synagogue suspect on social media was arrested on gun charges after his relatives reached out to authorities, federal court documents show.Jeffrey R. Clark Jr. was charged Tuesday with illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine and transporting a firearm in interstate commerce.Clark's family members tipped off authorities after they grew concerned over his involvement with the so-called alt-right movement, an affidavit says. It said he was "friends" with synagogue shooting suspect Robert Bowers on Gab, a social media platform that describes itself as "the free speech social network."On October 27, within hours of the attack that killed 11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Clark's brother, Edward, went to Theodore Roosevelt Island in Washington and fatally shot himself, the affidavit says."After the death of Edward Clark, Jeffrey Clark became more outspoken about his radical views, expressing them openly to his family members who were in the area following Edward Clark's death," the affidavit says. "During these conversations, Jeffrey Clark defended Robert Bowers' killings at the Tree-of-Life Synagogue. Jeffrey Clark also stated that he and Edward Clark had both fantasized about killing 'Jews and blacks.' "A few days after the suicide, two family members called federal authorities and said Jeffrey Clark had been "really riled up" and "agitated" after his brother's death, and he could be a danger to himself or others, the affidavit says. 1534

A woman in Illinois who tried to spike a toddler's sippy cup of milk with nail polish remover has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.Andrea Vazquez-Hernandez, 37, of Carol Stream, Illinois was sentenced Friday after being found guilty of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a child under 13 earlier this year.In May 2016, Vazquez-Hernandez mixed "one inch" of nail polish remover with milk and gave it to her husband's daughter. The girl immediately spit out the milk when she tasted the nail polish remover and was taken to the hospital. She was later released, and tests later revealed that her milk had been spiked.The girl had been fathered by Vazquez-Hernandez's husband with another woman, and Vazquez-Hernandez reportedly tried to poison the girl in order to punish her father.During her sentencing, the Chicago Tribune reports that Vazquez-Hernandez told the judge that she thanked God that the child was OK, but the judge was reportedly concerned about Vazquez-Hernandez's "lack of remorse."Vazquez-Hernandez will be required to serve at least five years of her 10-year sentence before being released.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- The woman authorities say was shot and killed in an Alpine neighborhood Saturday has been identified. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Melanie Benitez, 27, was shot on the 2800 block of North Victoria Drive around 2 p.m. The department also identified the suspect in the case as Paul Paraschak, 42. Deputies say Benitez and Paraschak were dating and lived together in Alpine. An area resident heard a scream and called 911 around 2 p.m. Saturday. Deputies detained Paraschak on foot about a half mile away with two hand guns, said Lt. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - A charter bus collided with a tree near an East County school Friday, injuring students with shattered glass.The bus collided with a tree next to Joan MacQueen Middle School in Alpine just before 5 p.m. There were at least 43 children on the bus, according to California Highway Patrol officer Mary Bailey. Some of the students were injured by shattered glass.It's not clear how the bus crashed.10News is monitoring this story: 469
