When an Oklahoma mother almost had her 4-year-old snatched from her hands, another mom standing close by jumped in to help. The two moms came together for the first time since the incident on Wednesday. On Saturday, LeeAnn Carrol says a man followed her and her four-year-old son Wyatt into a Tulsa Barnes and Noble. LeeAnn was nervous, so she kept hold of Wyatt's hand."He was telling my son he could pick anything out in the store, and he could just walk out and it's on him. And then it was like, 'just come over here Wyatt, let's go see this.' and I said, 'let's not,'" LeeAnn said. Then, the unthinkable happened, as LeeAnn says the man grabbed Wyatt and tried to run off. That's when Danielle Ritchie, another mother standing by, jumped in to help."He kept saying, 'whatever you want son, pick out whatever you want, I'll buy it, son'," Danielle said. "I don't even know, it was so quick, I just remember grabbing his arm and saying 'no'."Danielle was in the store with her two daughters and her husband Cory. Cory stopped the man before he could leave the children's section, and shortly after police arrested him."It was just frightening, very frightening," LeeAnn said. "I'm still shaking about it, I'll probably never let go of that."Wyatt is fine, but his mom is still terrified."I don't want to leave him alone, I don't want to leave him out of my sight," LeeAnn said.Danielle says it's a moment she will never forget."It was worse than a nightmare," Danielle said.As mothers, they both have the same message after the close call. They warn parents to watch their surroundings, and if anything seems off, take the chance to step in.This article was written by Chris DiMaria for 1700

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — It's hard to become a professional athlete. So, when an Ohio man got an offer to play football overseas, he was all in. However, the person recruiting him to play was playing him the whole time.Desmond Stanley has been tackling his dream to play professionally for a long time.“I started playing football when I was about 5,” the Willoughby, Ohio, man said. After graduating from Lake Erie College last year, he put his video highlights on the internet. He was determined to catch a break.“I thought I had a great opportunity with this Japan thing,” Stanley said. In late March, Stanley thought he scored a job after getting text messages from a man who said he was in Japan. "I was looking for a new opportunity," Stanley said. "It seemed like it was perfect."The supposed recruiter used the name of a real Japanese football team, sent Stanley a contract, and told him to pay for some processing. Stanley sent money through Western Union."You'll get the job immediately. They might not even interview you,” said Sue McConnell from the Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Cleveland. She said job scams were among the top 10 most used schemes that hit the Cleveland area in 2018. “Suddenly, it turns sour because they are either going to want money from you for some kind of test or certification." And that's what happened to Stanley. He was told to pay nearly ,000 more to make the job complete. Stanley said no."The agent stepped in and he was like, 'What can you pay? I'll help you,' " he said.Stanley said he did his homework on the job offer, even asking experienced people in the sports industry to look over the contract."Everyone who I spoke with said it seemed ... it seemed legit,” Stanley said. This isn't the first time a scam like this has popped up. According to an 1815

White House lawyers expect to have an opportunity to review whatever version of Robert Mueller's report Attorney General Bill Barr submits to Congress before it reaches lawmakers and the public, multiple sources familiar with the matter said, setting up a potential political battle over the hotly anticipated document. The attorneys want the White House to have an opportunity to claim executive privilege over information drawn from documents and interviews with White House officials, the sources said. The White House's review of executive privilege claims are within its legal purview, but could set up a political battle over the perception President Donald Trump is trying to shield certain information from the public about an investigation that has swirled around him since the first day of his presidency.Justice Department lawyers could advise him against certain assertions if they don't feel it's legally defensible. If Trump does assert executive privilege, the decision could be litigated in court if it's challenged, which Democrats would almost certainly do."There's always tension between what looks best politically and what represents the interests of the institution -- the office of the presidency," one source close to the White House said. "Preserving executive privilege trumps political optics."While Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani suggested privilege could be used to keep parts of the report from public view, the issue is up to the White House, not the President's personal attorneys. The Justice Department and White House declined comment. As the White House is bracing for Mueller's investigation to conclude, some officials describe a sense of anxiety at the contents of the report, even as they welcome the probe's end.A person close to the President's legal team offered some caution in a sign of the level of anxiety about how closely held Mueller has kept his investigation."Let's get the airplane on the runway and see what we got," the source said. But Trump, who spent part of this weekend lambasting Mueller on Twitter, does not plan to be blindsided by what the Justice Department possibly discloses to Congress and the public of the report. Instead, his lawyers expect the contents will be viewed first by them. 2270
