Fashion designer Karl Largefeld left behind a 0 million fortune following his recent death, and his cat is set to inherit part of it. Although it may sound absurd to leave millions of dollars to an animal, to the fashion mogul, Choupette the cat was much more than a pet. The cat was family. Maia Brusseau, with the non-profit animal shelter Dumb Friends League, agrees. She says many owners they see their pets as people. "It is not crazy to think about what is going to happen to your pet after you’re no longer here,” Brusseau explains. “It’s actually a very important thing to think about." While we may think of our pets like family members, the legal system considers them property, so how you set up a plan for your pet in your will is different.Keep in mind the following tips when determining care for your pet:Identify a care giver-someone you trust to take care of your pet.Pets are expensive, so think about allocating funds to your care giver to take care of your pet Create a dossier with general information, including what they eat, how much they need to be walked and a great pet sitterCome up with a plan B, which may include leaving your pet to a reputable shelter "That is a good idea to have that as a back-up if the family can't take care of them, especially if you have a favorite shelter you want to be able to support, so you know it will provide great care for your pet," Brusseau says. Brusseau says if you are a pet owner, put your pet in your will. "No matter what your age is, you should really make sure you have a plan in place, whether it’s an agreement with a family member or a friend who will take care of your pet for you, or if you do make provisions and put it in your will for someone to care for your pets,” she says. 1775

Former Trump administration national security adviser Michael Flynn has filed court papers to withdraw his guilty plea. He says federal prosecutors acted in “bad faith" and breached their deal with him. The request comes one week after the Justice Department changed its position on Flynn's punishment by recommending he serve up to six months in prison for lying to the FBI during its investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. Prosecutors had earlier said Flynn was entitled to avoid prison time because of his extensive cooperation. 568

Four Michigan teens who pleaded guilty to throwing a rock off a highway overpass that killed a man were sentenced as adults in a Michigan courtroom on Tuesday. They were ages 15 to 17 when they threw rocks onto I-75 in October 2017 in Genesee County. They called it "overpassing." A six-pound rock went through the windshield of 32-year-old Kenneth White's car as he was driving, killing him. The teens were initially charged with charged with second-degree murder but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter. They were being held in juvenile detention."The injuries are horrific. ... I gasped out (when I saw them)" Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said during the teens' trial in 2017.Genesee County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Farah sentenced Alexander Miller, Trevor Gray, Mikadyn Payne and Mark Sekelski to adult prison, rejecting their defense attorneys’ arguments they should be sentenced as juveniles. The judge gave them until Aug. 20 to withdraw their pleas. Their defense attorneys outside of court called the sentence emotional and political. The mother of the victim, Teresa Simpson, applauded the sentence in court and later said her son, “gets the justice he deserves. He’s happy now. He can rest.”The case pointed to the fifth teen, Kyle Anger, who was 18 at the time of the incident, as the one who planned the prank. He loaded up his pickup with rocks and threw the rock that killed White. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and faces several more years in prison when he is sentenced at a later date.Leyton said he didn't think the boys intended to kill anyone when they threw the rocks."I don't think they said, 'OK, we're going to kill Kenneth White when he comes hurtling down the road," Leyton said. "But I do think they said, 'We are going to throw a rock down at the next car that goes by and try to hit it.'"The four teens sentenced Tuesday could be out of prison sometime in 2020. However, they will be serving several months inside an adult prison.CNN Newsource contributed to this report. This story was originally published by 2088

Highways often cause parents to worry about their children's physical safety, yet there may be other important concerns. Young children who live near a major roadway are twice as likely to score lower on tests of communications skills than those who live farther away, new research indicates."We know that living close to major roadways — interstate highways or state highways — is associated with high air pollution," said 436
