SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man was arrested after the mother of a three-year-old girl called the San Diego Police and said her daughter was kidnapped and inappropriately touched by her neighbor.Police say the ordeal happened just before 10 a.m. Saturday, on Maple Street near Oak Park Elementary School.Two uncles spoke with 10News off camera, saying they heard their cousin "making a fuss" about her window being broken into, the same bedroom where their niece was taking a nap."He snatched her from the window... Three minutes to ten minutes that she was in there," one uncle said.When the girl was back home, the uncles said she seemed upset and reserved. Once she started talking, and the family had an idea of what may have happened, emotions boiled over."My cousin just went in for the shine like the first shot he made him bleed like I think he cracked his nose," he said his sister pulled them apart, and the man ran off.Blood stains were visible on the concrete outside. "Something had to be wrong with him, for him to balls up and come through a window with like ten people in the house," he said. The family knew the neighbor was mentally ill but did not think to this extent.The toddler and her parents then went to the hospital to get "a rape kit, just make sure everything’s fine, and we don’t exactly know what happened to her she saying that she was touched."The incident happened right across the street from Oak Park Elementary School, where students will come back to class August 28th. The San Diego Police Sex Crimes Unit is investigating the incident. 1635

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A homeowner in Clairemont hopes surveillance video is the key to tracking down the intruder who climbed straight through his window, before making off with some family heirlooms.Just off Balboa Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Monday, a man is seen ringing the doorbell at the home of Jeff Howell. After minutes of ringing and knocking, the man is recorded heading for the backyard, where he peers into the patio door and grabs a chair. He then pries open a locked window, steps onto the chair and into the home.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhood"Just a sense of violation," said Howell.The man is then seen on the phone, possibly with a lookout."You can hear him discussing 'it's safe now' or 'somebody just went by,'" said Howell.Moments later, the man heads straight for the bedroom closet, dragging out a small safe, before carrying it out the front door.By the time Howell saw his text alert, the intruder was gone. The man was in the home for about 15 minutes. Inside the safe: authentication documents for artwork and family heirlooms belonging to his 11-year-old son, including a silver spoon given to him at birth and something from his rodeo-competing great-grandfather, who has passed."He had a prize-winning, silver belt buckle. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was arrested after police say he stabbed his friend, then returned to watching a UFC fight.The stabbing happened on the 3000 block of Midway Drive around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Police say the two friends took a Lyft from downtown to the Midway District when they got into a fight.After leaving the car, the pair’s argument became even more heated before the suspect, Paul McNett, 43, wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck and stabbed him in the front of his neck.RELATED: Man shot during road rage incident in Del CerroAfter the stabbing, McNett stayed at the restaurant to watch the UFC fight.The 55-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new California law aims to help thousands of low-income Californians gain access to fresh and healthy food.Seniors in California who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will also be able to apply for CalFresh food benefits, formerly known as food stamps.SSI recipients are either over age 65, disabled, or blind. Up until recently, they couldn't apply for CalFresh benefits because they receive money for food in their check; however, it's just a month. "One of the challenges seniors face is the high cost of living, we can hardly make it with what we get," said Gwendolyn Joseph, a San Diegan who lives on a fixed income.Joseph just turned 76 and can finally apply for CalFresh benefits, despite receiving SSI benefits. The average CalFresh recipient receives 0 per month to purchase food."We are striving so hard in California to restore these kinds of safety net programs to our most vulnerable Californians, look around this room, these are people who've worked their entire lives, they deserve it, they've earned it, and they need our support now," said Senator Toni Atkins, who represents California Senate District 39.Feeding San Diego, in partnership with Serving Seniors, 211 San Diego, and the County of San Diego Health and Human Services, is working to spread the word and encourage SSI recipients to apply for CalFresh benefits. "The nutritional gap that we're seeing in San Diego in terms of people having calories to eat, but not having healthy and nutritious foods to eat, is a real serious and growing problem, and it impacts seniors disproportionately," said Vince Hall, CEO of Feeding San Diego.
