(AP) — Authorities say a U.S. Army special forces sergeant based in Florida has been charged in the deaths of three people and the wounding of three more in an apparently random shooting at an Illinois bowling alley. Winnebago County State's Attorney J. Hanley said Sunday that 37-year-old Duke Webb has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder in the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, in Rockford, Saturday evening. Police Chief Dan O'Shea said Sunday that the men who died were aged 73, 65, and 69. He didn't provide names. He says two teenagers were wounded and that a 62-year-old man who was shot several times is in critical condition.According to The Associated Press, the 14-year-old boy was shot in the face and airlifted to a hospital in Madison in stable condition. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the shoulder and was treated at a hospital and released. Right after the mass shooting at a Florida high school earlier this year, Dick's Sporting Goods decided to stop selling assault-style weapons at its stores.Now the nation's largest sporting goods retailer is going to destroy those guns."We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change," the company told CNN."We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations."A company spokesman wouldn't say how the guns would be destroyed.Dick's was one of a number of retailers that made changes to their gun sales policy after the February 14 massacre at Marjory Stonemen High School that killed 17 students and staff.Around the same time, Walmart said it would also raise the age restriction for purchase of firearms and ammunition to 21. Riding in vehicles after the pandemic could look different for a while. Ridesharing company Lyft will be distributing partitions to drivers as they make changes to address the COVID-19 pandemic and CDC guidelines.In a blog post Friday, Lyft said they are establishing new health and safety standards, including riders and drivers certifying they are symptom-free, wearing masks throughout the ride, and vehicle partitions.Partitions have been available to identified frequent Lyft drivers and those in the company’s Express Drive rental program in Atlanta, Denver and Baltimore. They will be coming to other large cities next before being rolled out to 60,000 drivers in the coming months. Some drivers will receive partitions for free, others will be able to purchase one from Lyft.
