BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said Tuesday that China and Russia should make joint efforts to achieve common development and combat global challenges.While meeting with Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Sergei Mironov in Beijing, Hu urged the two countries to work for the establishment of a more fair and rational international order.Mironov's visit, which ran from Oct. 17 to 19, was another high-level visit on the heels of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's three-day state visit to China last month."China is willing to work with Russia to materialize consensuses and tasks agreed to during high-level visits," said Hu.Mironov on Monday co-chaired with China's top legislator Wu Bangguo the fourth meeting of the cooperation committee between China's National People's Congress and the Russian Federation Council, a regular parliamentary exchange mechanism for the benefit of bilateral ties.Hu said China supports the increasing exchanges between legislative bodies of the two countries, hoping the two sides could help publicize the ideas of generational friendship and reciprocal cooperation, push forward pragmatic cooperation in various fields and cooperation on adjacent regions of both countries.Hu also said the two countries should enhance coordination within multilateral mechanisms in a bid to contribute to improved China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination.Echoing Hu's remarks, Mironov said the sound development of Russia-China ties complies with the mutual interests of both countries, adding that Medvedev's successful visit, during which the two countries signed a package of deals and agreements, would have a positive impact on future bilateral cooperation.The Russian Federation Council will play its due role in facilitating bilateral cooperation in such areas as politics, trade and energy so as to make new contributions to the friendship between the two countries, Mironov said.Premier Wen Jiabao also met with Mironov later on Tuesday, and called on the two governments to fully implement consensuses reached by the two sides, inject new vitality into the two countries' modernization process and maintain world peace and stability."The profound changes of the international situation has not only offered precious opportunities but also brought forward higher request for developing China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination," Wen said. 

BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- China here Thursday questioned the intentions of foreign governments who supported the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize going to Liu Xiaobo, saying those governments had no right to interfere in China's internal affairs."What is the true intention of those foreign political figures and governments who support the granting of the Nobel Peace Prize to Mr. Liu Xiaobo? Is it because they resent China's development path and hate China's political system?" Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu questioned.Ma said at a regular news briefing that whether China had chosen the best way to more forward, both politically and socially, was best judged by the development reality in China, and the 1.3 billion Chinese people had the biggest say."China's affairs should be left to Chinese people themselves," Ma said, adding that the few biased individuals with the Norwegian Nobel Committee had no right to judge China, and western governments had no right to interfere in China's internal affairs."We never interfere in other's internal affairs, and will not allow others to interfere in ours, " said Ma.The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo on Oct. 8th in Oslo, Norway. BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) - China's top economic planning agency Thursday urged authorities nationwide to step up supervision to stabilize prices in food, transportation and tourism during the upcoming holidays.Focus should be attached to cracking down on price rigging, including circulating misleading or false information about price hikes, commodity hoarding or forcing up prices of grain, cooking oil, meat, eggs and dairy products, said an official from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).The official also asked involved departments to ramp up measures to regulate prices of public transportation and in the tourism industries, while curbing arbitrary price hikes and irregular charges.Complaints and reports from the public will be accepted at hotline phone number "12358", said the official.This year's Mid-autumn Festival holiday is Sept. 22 to 24, and the National Day holiday lasts from Oct. 1 to 7.

BRUSSELS, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- China expected an early resumption of the six-party talks to ease tensions and resolve the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said here on Tuesday.All parties should make joint efforts to ease tensions between the south and the north on the peninsula and strive to resume the six-party talks at an early date, said Wen while meeting South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on the sidelines of the eighth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Brussels."This is in the fundamental interests of all parties involved and is conducive to peace and stability in the region," he said.The six-party talks, a multilateral mechanism designed to peacefully denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, were launched in 2003. The talks involve China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Japan, South Korea, Russia and the United States.Speaking of the upcoming Group of 20 (G20) Seoul Summit, slated for Nov. 11-12, Wen said it was of great significance for boosting the world economic recovery, adding that China would support South Korea in seeking positive outcomes at the meeting.Wen said China regards South Korea as a friendly neighbor and an important partner. It also cherished the hard-won mutual understanding and trust between the two countries, believing the bilateral ties could withstand tests and continue to develop.China would also work with South Korea to boost cooperation in East Asia, Wen added.Lee appreciated China's support for Seoul G20 summit, saying his country would keep working with China to improve bilateral ties and play an active role in safeguarding peace and stability as well as deepening cooperation within the region.

BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The value of yuan, China's currency Renminbi, hit new high against U.S. dollar Thursday as the central parity rate of the yuan was set at 6.6582 per U.S. dollar, according to the data released by the China Foreign Exchange Trading System.Thursday's central parity rate beat the previous record of 6.6693 on Oct. 13.
