President Donald Trump has committed to a second stimulus check, however just because he wants one doesn't mean he'll get one through Congress. In an exclusive interview with E.W. Scripps Monday, the president was asked if he would get Americans another stimulus check. "We are, we are," Trump said in response. "It'll be very good; it will be very generous," Trump added. "I think it going to be bipartisan," Trump said. 429

President Donald Trump once again floated the idea of adding a "Space Force" as a branch of the US military on Tuesday at the White House.Trump's comments came as he presented the Army college football team with the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy, annually awarded to the best college football team among Army, Navy and Air Force."You will be part of the five proud branches of the United States Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and the Coast Guard," Trump said, addressing the Army football team. "And we're actually thinking about a sixth, and that would be the Space Force. Does that make sense?" Trump said. "... because we're getting very big in space, both militarily and for other reasons, and we're seriously thinking about the Space Force."Tuesday wasn't the first time Trump has floated the idea of a military branch dedicated for fighting wars in space. In March at a speech in San Diego, Trump broached the idea for the first time publicly."We may even have a 'space force,'" Trump said, according to Scripps station KGTV in San Diego. "We're doing a tremendous amount of work in space. I said maybe we'll need a new force. We'll call it 'the space force.'""Our service members will be vital to ensuring America continues to lead the way into the stars," Trump continued. "We're way, way behind."The Washington Post points out that the United States signed the Outer Space Treaty in 1967, promising not to test weapons in outer space or establish military bases on the moon or other celestial bodies — though it points out that there is no enforcement mechanism in place to stop the US from doing so.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. President Donald Trump alleged Tuesday — without providing any evidence — that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation will meddle in the midterm elections to benefit Democrats.Trump's claim is his latest attack on the credibility of the Russia investigation as being politically motivated, though it's a significant new step in his attacks on what is intended to be an independent probe working to get to the bottom of Russia's efforts to interfere in the 2016 election.  492

President Donald Trump issued another round of pardons on Wednesday that included his former campaign manager and his son-in-law’s father. All told, Trump gave out 26 pardons on Wednesday on top of the 15 he issued on Tuesday.Notable pardons include former campaign manager Paul Manafort, former campaign adviser Roger Stone, and Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner.Last year, Manafort was sentenced to 43 months in prison after being convicted on eight counts of tax and bank fraud. Manafort was released from federal prison earlier this year due to COVID-19 concerns.Stone, who previously had his sentence commuted by Trump, was convicted on witness tampering and obstruction charges stemming from Special Counsel Bob Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.Charles Kusnher was convicted in 2004 for tax evasion, illegal campaign contributions and witness tampering. Kushner was prosecuted by Chris Christie, who is a supporter of Trump’s.“I mean it’s one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was US attorney. And I was a US attorney in New Jersey, Margaret, so we had some loathsome and disgusting crime going on there,” Christie said last year in an interview with PBS’ Margaret Hoover. The practice of issuing controversial pardons in the final days and week in office is not uncommon. For instance, in 2017, President Barack Obama's pardon of Chelsea Manning and Bill Clinton's 2001 pardon of his half brother Roger Clinton were debated at the time. 1546

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Some neighbors in Poway are demanding answers after they say a huge wall showed up on a hillside over their homes, seemingly overnight and without notice."It definitely kills our view," said Aaron Jewell, who has lived in the neighborhood for nearly 40 years. "It's an eyesore.""It looks a prison!" added Jeff Tarzia, another neighbor. The pre-fabricated "tilt-up" walls were erected last week, part of a 531,000 square-foot warehouse and distribution center slated to open next year, according to interviews with the city and the developer. The facility, named Vantage Point, will be the latest addition to the Poway Business Park along Scripps Poway Parkway. The business park already features more than 500 businesses and 18,000 employees. After the wall appeared last week, several neighbors complained on the social media app NextDoor that they had no idea the project was coming.Video from the Poway City Council shows the item was discussed November 7 for 14 minutes. Only one public speaker commented on the proposal: a commercial real estate broker who supported the project.According to the agenda documents, the city notified property owners within 500 feet of the upcoming council meeting, but aerial photographs show the only buildings nearby are in the business park. The concerned neighbors live in homes in a canyon several thousand feet north of the project, separated by open space. The city also filed a notice in the local newspaper about the upcoming hearing, said Poway Community Outreach Coordinator Rene Carmichael.City staff noted the land had been part of the Poway Business Park development plan since 1985. It was graded in the early 2000s but otherwise sat vacant because the owners of the property had trouble generating interest. After the city agreed to change the zoning classification in November to allow for a distribution and warehouse facility, Ryan Companies acquired the property in January. The Minneapolis-based commercial real estate company broke ground on the project in April, said company spokeswoman Kathy Jalivay. The company has not yet found a tenant to fill the building, which is slated to open in June 2020.The developer will add trees along the north side of the building to held screen it from view, Carmichael said. 2298
