LAS VEGAS — Erin is a hairdresser based out of Henderson, Nevada. She exercises and eats well, but couldn’t figure out why she felt so fatigued.“I started becoming really fatigued and sleeping longer and then it switched and I started having sleepless nights. I couldn’t rest and relax and my body couldn’t relax and my head would just stay awake,” Erin added. She says she experienced muscle spasms and eventually loss of appetite. The symptoms went on for two weeks before she went to a doctor. The doctor confirmed that Erin is Vitamin D deficient.“The stress was causing my body to not take in the nutrients properly, so I also had to be put on medication to handle the stress,” Erin said.Dr. Romy Block, an endocrinologist and co-author of The Vitamin Solution, says Erin is not alone.“Most of us are probably Vitamin D deficient which makes it really tricky to figure out if you have it and what kind of symptoms are attributable to it,” Dr. Block said.Dr. Block says symptoms can include hair loss, memory and mood changes, fatigue, and bone pain.Even for mild cases, lacking Vitamin D can weaken your immune system. New studies confirm that people with lower levels of the vitamin have a higher risk of getting COVID-19.Dr. Block says taking vitamins can help, but it’s a careful balance. Taking too many vitamins can be harmful long term.“They can cause things like high calcium levels, kidney stones, we have actually seen people admitted to the Intensive care unit for Vitamin D toxicity,” Dr. Block said.Dr. Block suggests consulting your doctor about the best plan for you. You can order multivitamins catered to your needs and certain food can help. Wild caught salmon, fish that eat plankton, and sun dried mushrooms are helpful, according to Dr. Block. This story originally reported by Kelsey McFarland on ktnv.com. 1839
Las Vegas police said Monday the MS-13 gang has been responsible for 10 murders in the past year in Southern Nevada. Police said five suspects, including one juvenile, have been arrested in the murders after the last one occurred on March 2. The first one occurred in March of last year. The murders were linked through forensic evidence. The victims died of shooting and stabbing injuries. Six of the 10 victims were kidnapped before police said they were murdered on the outskirts of town. Sheriff Joe Lombardo called the suspects "extremely violent."The discovery of two bodies at Frenchman Mountain within a short period of time helped tip police off after the body was determined to be a MS-13 gang member. The victims have been identified as Daniel Clark, Richard Gaudio, Carlos Pachaca-Rodriguez, Arquimidez Sandoval-Martinez, Juan Carlos Estrada Raya, Jose Hernandez, Ricardo Olivas, Izzak Towery, Earl Ryan and Rony Fuentes. In addition to the ones near Frenchman Mountain, three of the murders occurred near Mount Charleston, while others occurred near Arville Street and Oakey Boulevard, Bonanza and Sandhill roads, Charleston and Nellis boulevards and Charleston Boulevard and Palm Street. 1248

(KGTV) — This week, police say they arrested a La Mesa businessman, who was the subject of an inappropriate video posted online earlier this year, for violating a restraining order.La Mesa Police said Peter Carzis was arrested Tuesday and charged with violation of a domestic violence restraining order. Officers responded to the 8200 block of Lemon Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. for a report of a possible restraining order violation. LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Adult film star Stormy Daniels has been hired as the official corporate spokeswoman for Deja Vu Services. Deja Vu, an adult entrainment group, said Daniels' appeal, superb communication skills, and connections made her a perfect candidate for the position."We feel that having Ms. Daniels as our official spokesperson will take our public relations efforts to new heights," said Kristi Flores, a company representative. We always have various PR and lobbying needs that affect the adult entertainment industry at large."Daniels is famous for a political scandal in which the adult film actress said President Donald's Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid her to be silent about an affair she had with Trump. "The Wall Street Journal" reported in January 2018 that Daniels had been paid 0,000 in October 2016, just before the presidential election, to stop discussing the affair that allegedly took place in 2006.Deja Vu operates a number of clubs and adult retail stores, including a few locations in Las Vegas. The company said Daniels will also look to confront industry issues affecting female adult entertainers. 1188
LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Citizen Public Safety Oversight Task Force of La Mesa met Wednesday virtually, following two high-profile incidents involving the city's police department. The recently formed group is tasked with looking at whether La Mesa needs a police oversight committee and then decide what it will look like. The group's chair, Jamal McRae, realizes they are a temporary task force, but hopes it rolls over to become the permanent commission."We're still trying to educate ourselves as to what our committee will do, as far as, will be able to have subpoena power? Do we want subpoena power? We're still in the research phase." McRae said. "We're trying to determine whether we want to put this on a ballot to have individuals on the city vote on it, or if we wish the city council will just have the final say.McRae points out the idea for the task force came before the controversial incidents involving La Mesa police officers, and before the national calls for police reform following the death of George Floyd."We're a group of individual citizens that got together and wanted to make a change in the community after the Helix High School incident," McRae said. "So we have been running through some ideas for a few years, just among community members."McRae says the group understands the importance of their work and the urgency to complete their tasks. That's why they have scheduled three meetings next month. The meetings are scheduled for July 1, July 8, and July 15.They hope to present a plan and a sense of direction to the city council by the end of July. 1596
