(KGTV) — More than 20,000 acres have been scorched in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties by the Apple Fire since Friday, prompting evacuation orders for thousands of residents.The fire had burned 26,450 acres and was 5% contained as of Monday at 7:48 a.m., according to Cal Fire.Officials say the blaze began as two separate fires on Friday in Cherry Valley, an unincorporated area near Beaumont in Riverside County, before exploding over the weekend and crossing into San Bernardino County.RELATED: Several San Diego County fire departments help fight growing Apple FireThe U.S. Forest Service says the majority of the area covering the northern and eastern edges of the fire is very steep and rugged, making it difficult for crews to access the area with vehicles. (KGTV) - The man suspected of opening fire at a Church’s Chicken in Otay Mesa West earlier this month was arrested Friday in Memphis, Tennessee, the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed. Albert Blake is charged with shooting and killing Maribel Merino-Ibanez, 28, and wounding two men Nov. 6. The three victims were employees of the restaurant on Del Sol Boulevard. Police said the shooter had been to the Church's earlier in the day and tried to use a counterfeit bill to buy food. "The suspect got into a verbal argument with employees and left the restaurant. A 39-year-old mother was indicted in New Bedford, Massachusets on Thursday after authorities found 19 dead animals in her 13-year-old son's bedroom, the Standard-Times reported. According to the Standard-Times, police and animal control visited the home when it picked up a stray dog that was believed to belong to Amanda Vicente. When authorities arrived, they found 19 dead animals along with 17 living animals in 27 cages. Police told the Standard-Times that they found piles of feces in the kitchen and the house was in disarray.Authorities found dead lizards, hamsters, cockatiels and finches in the boy's room. The surviving animals were reportedly malnourished. Those animals have been taken to veterinary care. The child has been placed in the custody of relatives.Vicente was allowed to place bond, and will face a judge in December on child abuse and animal cruelty charges. 947
