BUFFALO, N.Y. - At a house in Buffalo, you'll find a resource to help neighbors in need."I think Buffalo really has the chance and ability to want to really come together and put some positivity into the air right now you know?" said Jessie Reardon.Reardon is the woman behind the Buffalo Community Fridge. She's also a registered nurse at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.The fridge is for anyone who needs fresh produce, baby food, or even a pre-packaged meal. She got all the logistics together starting in July and put the fridge out last week.Reardon said the fridge was a donation from a friend. Since then, a few others have offered to find fridges for the effort."The ultimate goal is to for there to be refrigerators all over the city, in every neighborhood, all over. Spreading mutual aid giving food to people that need it," said Reardon.It's a resource critical to Buffalo's east side, which is considered a food desert."It's hard to get fresh fruit and the natural resources that our families need for their children, so they have the proper nutrition," said Pastor Dwayne Jones, with Mt. Aaron Missionary Baptist Church.Pastor Jones, an advocate for getting produce to food deserts, said there's only one supermarket on the east side.He's been working on a local, state, and federal level to get more supermarkets to that area."We need a supermarket down on this part of the east side," he said. "Everybody needs an apple, fresh milk, everybody needs fresh milk, fresh produce."Right now, Reardon wants other people to get encouraged to host a refrigerator themselves, and she is more than willing to help them get started."Anyone can do this, absolutely. It is anyone's project, it's just as much as your project as it is my project," she said.Any food items are accepted, except for raw meat or seafood. BOSTONIA (CNS) - A 29-year-old woman was killed in a two-car collision in a neighborhood just north of El Cajon Friday, authorities reported.The woman was making a left turn from northbound Peerless Drive onto westbound Pepper Drive in the Bostonia area when her 2000 Chevrolet Malibu was struck broadside by an eastbound 2003 Volkswagen Passat shortly before 7:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.Medics took the mortally injured El Cajon resident to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, CHP public affairs Officer Travis Garrow said.Her name was withheld pending family notification.The driver of the Volkswagen, a 22-year-old El Cajon man, suffered minor injuries in the crash, Garrow said.Investigators were attempting to determine which driver was at fault. 805

BALTIMORE, Maryland — A man running away from the Baltimore Police died after being hit by a car last week.Officers were conducting a narcotics investigation in the 2700 block of Greenmount Avenue around 8:30 p.m. March 28. When they tried to talk to 21-year-old Larry Whitfield during the investigation, he immediately started to run away. Whitfield was able to escape officers and tried to cross Greenmount Avenue when he was hit by a car traveling southbound. He was transported to a hospital where he died Friday morning. The driver of the car was not injured and stayed on the scene after the crash. Detectives are working with the narcotics unit to evaluate all the evidence from the scene. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.  785

BRADFORD, England – An intensive care unit doctor in England ran about 22 miles in a mask to show people that face coverings won’t hinder their oxygen levels.Dr. Tom Lawton says he was upset about the misinformation going around about oxygen levels and masks, so he wanted to demonstrate how safe it is himself."I was frustrated because I've seen some photos where people who sat at a desk wearing a mask and claimed that the oxygen levels dropped just simply wearing a mask," Lawton told CNN in an interview Sunday.During his run to and from work, Lawton used a pulse oximeter to measure his oxygen levels, which he says were “stubbornly” 98% every time he checked, and his mask never came off.The mask didn't come off at all (no food or drink) - and oxygen levels were stubbornly 98% every time I checked. (KGTV) — A Carlsbad man was found dead after his vehicle was located down an embankment in the Bonsall area.A 77-year-old man was reported missing to Carlsbad Police earlier on Saturday before California Highway Patrol was also notified about the man. A location search of the man's mobile phone led authorities and family members to a location at Old Highway 395 and Interstate 15.CHP and family members responded to the scene, where a 2016 Mercedes was found down the embankment on Old Highway 395, below the road level and out of view from traffic. The missing man was found dead inside the vehicle. It wasn't clear what caused the crash, but CHP said impairment is not believed to be a factor.Anyone who may have information on the crash is asked to call CHP at 858-637-3800. 803
