The pandemic has resulted in a major increase in donated items, so the selection at stores like Goodwill is better than ever before.Families that are trying to make ends meet are benefiting a lot from this surge in donations."It’s not just a little bit. It’s carloads of donations," said Goodwill store manager Sarah Guthrie. "It’s just been crazy. Donation after donation. The first weekend I was here, we did over 1,000 donations between Saturday and Sunday. It's about a car for every 12 seconds."Guthrie has been store manager at the Castle Rock, Colorado, Goodwill location for about a month and a half. She's seen the same thing just about every day since."Right now, our donation center starts at 10 a.m., but starting around 9:15 or so, we start getting cars in our line and a lot of times it’ll wrap all the way around the building and into the street," said Guthrie. They see car after car of people dropping off bags of things they no longer need."Spring cleaning has taken on a whole new meaning this year," said Goodwill Industries International CEO Steve Preston. He says this isn’t just unique to this one store. Donations are up across the country where stores are open, which means now is the time to go shopping for a bargain."That is the logical connection. So, when we get a lot of great donations coming in, it is a super time to hit the store because our category is called “Treasure Hunting”, category in retail, and there are just a ton of treasures in there because so many people have been bringing in those donations," said Preston. Some stores are seeing an increase of up to 50% in donations, and they’re having a hard time storing it in their stores."Many of our local stores are renting additional warehouse space. They’re finding trucks to be able to hold those donations," said Preston.Which is the case back at Guthrie’s store."We store what we can here in the store. We process what we can here in the store. But, a lot of what we get in through our donation line actually goes to our warehouses," said Guthrie.More donations mean selling more goods, which turns into more job training for people who are now finding themselves unemployed. 2179

The man responsible for the Strasbourg terror attack was killed by police on Thursday, a spokesman for the Paris prosecutor's office said.Cherif Chekatt, 29, is accused of killing at least three people and wounding 13 others in the terrorist attack near the Christmas market in Strasbourg. French prosecutors said the suspect shouted the Arabic phrase "Allahu Akbar," meaning "God is greatest," at the time of the attack. He was killed after a two-day manhunt that prompted a curfew in the eastern French city near the German border and forced the country to raise its national security threat level. Hundreds of police and military officers across three European countries were involved in the search. The French National Police thanked the public for their assistance in finding Chekatt."Thank you for your alerts which allowed us to find the wanted individual," the National Police said on Twitter.Authorities said Chekatt entered the perimeter of the famed market, one of the oldest in Europe, by the city's Corbeau Bridge and started shooting at passers-by on the Rue des Orfèvres around 8 p.m., when many were in the middle of their Christmas shopping.Anti-terror police flooded the market and tried to arrest the suspected gunman. He exchanged fire with security forces, suffering an injury to his arm. Chekatt used a handgun and a knife to kill people, Paris Prosecutor Remy Heitz said. The suspected gunman then jumped into a taxi and fled the scene, Heitz said.Soon after the attack, more than 700 police and military officers across three European countries joined the search and France raised its national security threat level to its highest status: "emergency terror attack."On Thursday, French police evacuated buildings and cordoned off the area where the suspected gunman fled. Chekatt has an extensive criminal background that includes 27 convictions in France, Germany and Switzerland, mostly for acts of robbery and violence. In 2017, he was deported from Germany to France after the Interior Ministry in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg confirmed he had been convicted of break-ins and serious theft in 2016 and spent time in a German prison. The suspected shooter also was known to prison officials for being radicalized and for his proselytizing behavior in detention in 2015, Paris prosecutor Heitz said, adding that Chekatt had been incarcerated multiple times.Chekatt was born in Strasbourg, according to CNN affiliate BFM.He was on a French watch list called a "Fiche S" surveillance file. The "Fiche S" is a French terror and radicalization watch list that includes thousands of people, some of whom are under active surveillance, meaning they are on law enforcement's radar.Hours before the attack, French gendarmes tried to bring in Chekatt but found he wasn't home, a spokesperson for France's National Police told CNN earlier this week, without providing further details. 2932

The porn star known as Stormy Daniels threatened to call off a nondisclosure agreement with President Donald Trump's lawyer weeks before the election, The Washington Post reports, citing an email from Daniels' lawyer obtained by the newspaper.Trump's personal legal counsel, Michael Cohen, agreed to pay the woman, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, reportedly in exchange for her silence about an alleged affair she had with Trump several years prior. But according to the Post, an email from Clifford's lawyer, Keith Davidson, on October 17, 2016, shows Clifford's lawyer threatening to end the nondisclosure deal. At that point, the payment had not arrived, the newspaper said.Shortly after, a second email to Cohen from Davidson obtained by the newspaper said: "Please be advised that my client deems her settlement agreement canceled and void."Ten days after those emails, another email shows Daniels received a 0,000 payment, according to the Post.Cohen admitted last month to making the payment, saying in a statement that the exchange was a "lawful" "private transaction" in which he used his "own personal funds," and "was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.""Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly," Cohen said.Cohen reportedly set up a private LLC shortly before the 2016 presidential election to pay Clifford, following an alleged July 2006 sexual encounter with Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported in January. After the initial reports of the payment, Cohen said in a statement that Trump "vehemently denies" any encounter between the two."Just because something isn't true doesn't mean that it can't cause you harm or damage," Cohen's latter statement said. "I will always protect Mr. Trump."Clifford's manager also said last month that Clifford now believes Cohen voided the non-disclosure by admitting to the payment."Everything is off now, and Stormy is going to tell her story," said Gina Rodriguez, Clifford's manager.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. The Government Oversight and Audit Committee of the Louisville Metro Council passed an order to investigate Mayor Greg Fischer's handling of the deaths of Breonna Taylor and David McAtee as well as his handling on protesters. The committee passed the order on Tuesday. In a press release, the committee said that the "action and inaction of Fischer's administration" prompted them to open an investigation."Metro Council and the public at large seek to better understand these events and surrounding circumstances by examining the role of, decisions made by, and orders given by any officers of the consolidated local government and any board or commission," the city said in the statement. "This includes but not limited to Mayor Greg Fischer, his leadership team, and his administration (the “Administration”) and LMPD by and through its agents. Metro Council and the citizens of Louisville demand a transparent, public process whereby the truth of these events comes to light and critical missing information is revealed to help resolve the aforementioned issues and omissions."Back on March 13, Taylor was shot eight times inside her home by police who were serving a no-knock warrant. McAtee was shot back in June after police and the Kentucky National Guard were trying to disperse protesters, according to CNN.See the full press release below: Or-004-20 v.1 071420 Order Investigating Administration Actions-Inaction by Sarah Dewberry on Scribd 1459

The Houston Rockets have traded Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards for John Wall and a future lottery-protected, first-round pick. Both teams announced the trade Wednesday night. The move ends Westbrook’s tenure in Houston after just one disappointing season. Westbrook was traded from Oklahoma City for Chris Paul and draft picks in July 2019.Westbrook's Rockets defeated Paul's Thunder in the first round of the NBA Playoffs during the summer, but lost to the Clippers in the next round, only winning one out of five games in the series. Westbrook is a nine-time NBA All Star, and was the league's MVP in 2017. Wall had a string of five straight All-Star appearances before injuries the last two seasons held him back. 738
