As banks make it more difficult for hackers to get into their systems, criminals are now trying to get into retirement accounts. There are a couple of reasons why hackers would target a 401(k) and other types of retirement accounts. First, there are usually significant amounts of money in these accounts. Second, there are usually fewer safeguards when it comes to access.Consumer groups are finding that getting your retirement account breached may hurt you more in the long run. “There's no guarantee that the financial institution that holds your retirement account will return the money that's been stolen from you,” says Adam Garber, a consumer watchdog with 678

MILLVILLE, N.J. -- It doesn’t take much to get Hansel going. His greatest asset is his nose, which comes in handy, as the first pit bull in the country to ever become a certified arson detection dog. “He's my boy 100 percent,” said arson investigator Tyler Van Leer of the Millville Fire Department in New Jersey and Hansel’s handler. “He's certified to detect 14 ignited a liquid odors, meaning anything that you could buy from a hardware store, that you can set a house on fire with, ignite the liquids, he's trained to sniff out.” Hansel’s path getting there wasn’t easy. The 4-year-old was rescued from an alleged dog fighting ring in Canada. Authorities there wanted to euthanize all of the dogs, but rescue groups stepped in. Hansel eventually found his way to Carol Skaziak, who co-founded the non-profit 825

It's no secret that voting in this year's election is entirely different from what we've done in years past. With that, there are many concerns about mail-in ballots, and whether or not they favor one political party over another.Bakersfield College political science professor Allen Bolar says the rumor has always been that mail-in voting favors Democrats. He says that rumor hasn't historically been true, until now."The Republican party is gonna be sending mail-in voter ballot applications to its voters, but on the other hand, the top of its ticket is saying that you can't trust the mail-in voting," Bolar said. This year, votes received by mail will likely be more skewed favoring democrats, Bolar said. The professor explaining that mostly has to do with the rhetoric coming from the White House for months, denouncing the mail-in vote system's integrity."You have tremendous potential for fraud and abuse," President Donald Trump said about mail-voting this summer.Bolar says some Republicans, heading President Trump's words, may avoid casting their vote via mail. Meanwhile, Democrats are expected to be turning out in higher numbers. Democrats have cast about 51% of the early votes, according to a predictive analysis by the data firm TargetSmart, which uses voter data to project turnout trends. That's compared with 38% by Republicans. Bolar says republicans will mostly vote in other ways, like at the poll on election day."Many Republican voters are die-hard Republican voters. They're going to show, and do whatever they need to do," he said.Bolar says the one advantage that may come out of this for Democrats, is that when a party's base votes early, it allows the party to focus their campaign calls and mailers on a smaller set of people who haven't voted."Whereas the Republican party is going to have to keep worrying about its whole set of voters, or at least a large number of them, and its efforts are going to be a little harder to concentrate," he said. It’s hard to know exactly what your symptoms mean, especially these days.“In actuality, the differences are really very small and almost negligible,” said Cleveland Clinic Dr. Baruch Fertel.According to Fertel, there are little differences between COVID and flu symptoms.“The muscle aches, the fever, the cough, GI symptoms like diarrhea, headache those symptoms can be found with both,” said the doctor. But there is one difference."I would say the only major difference, which is actually a minor difference is that loss of taste or smell that’s something that seems to be unique to the COVID-19 coronavirus and not something we’ve seen in the past with the flu,” said Fertel. He says this flu season will be much different from others."I think in the past, I certainly made an empiric diagnosis of the flu, I told people to stay home, stay out of work for a couple days, no problem,” said Fertel. "I think it's really important to get testing for a number of reasons, the isolation period for COVID is longer than that of the flu. The infectivity of COVID is more than that of the flu and understating for contract tracing and other such public health measures what.”He’s encouraging folks to get a flu shot this time, even if you haven’t in the past."If we could prevent that and have less fibril illnesses because people have gotten the flu shot, it will just make it that much easier to deal with schools, work, things like that and prevent so much disruption,” said the doctor.Fertel adds because we’re already doing things that help slow the spread of a viral infection, this all could help this flu season be less deadly."When people pay attention when they wash their hands whatever measures we put in place to stop the spread of coronavirus will absolutely work as well for the flu,” he said. This story originally reported by Amanda VanAllen on News5Cleveland.com. 1894

Four days every week, Bill and Brenda Bowman pack food for Meals on Wheels. It’s a national program that empowers communities to address senior isolation and hunger by delivering nutritious meals to those who are homebound and can’t make food for themselves. Bill and Brenda became volunteers in 2011. “We started honestly in what we think is obedience to the Lord. And as we did that, we were rewarded. We have met some awesome people,” said Meals on Wheels volunteer Brenda Bowman. Seniors in isolation often experience loneliness. It’s becoming one of the biggest threats to seniors. For that reason, the 621
