HUNTINGTON BEACH (CNS) - A crowd estimated at 400 people gathered in front of the Huntington Beach pier to protest the first night of a statewide curfew aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19, authorities said Sunday.The people gathered at 10 p.m. Saturday along Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street, crossing the highway when allowed by the traffic light, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Ryan Reilly.By 11:30 p.m., the crowd appeared about half that size, said Reilly, who was watching the gathering via surveillance cameras.The protest ended shortly after midnight, he said.The group was law-abiding "for the most part," Reilly said. One person was arrested for public intoxication. "Some, not all" wore face masks.It appeared the vehicles passing through the area were part of the demonstration and the same vehicles were seen moving north and south on PCH, Reilly said.Officers were there watching the activity but no illegal assembly was declared, he said.Sergeants posted in the Main Street area reported that all of the bars, restaurants and other businesses closed by 10 p.m., Reilly said.The department did not issue citations for curfew violations, he said. Immediately following reports of an incident in Las Vegas in May involving Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL conducted a comprehensive investigation that included interviews with multiple witnesses, including security personnel and others with direct involvement, as well as a review of documentary and other information.On Tuesday, as part of the review, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell met with Mr. Elliott to reinforce the standards of conduct expected of him and the consequences for failing to meet those standards.Mr. Elliott acknowledged that he demonstrated poor judgment and committed to make better choices in the future. IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - Medical examiners identified the body found floating off-shore in Imperial Beach as 29-year-old Zabiullah Rahmani.Rahmani leaves behind a wife of nearly ten years and two 7-year-old twin daughters. Ramzia Rahmani tells 10News, "I can say it was horrible and it still is." Less than a week since she lost her husband and the feelings are still raw, "The fire is burning in my chest whenever I see my girls ask about their father. It'ss too hard to face their questions, it's hard to answer their questions about their dad."She tells 10News, her husband left Saturday night to hangout with friends down in Imperial Beach. She says he was planning to be home for midnight but the hours after turned into Monday, "The doorbell rang and I saw there was two police officers and I felt bad. I thought maybe something happened to my husband." Thinking something bad but never imagining it would end up being her worst nightmare, "It's hard for me to believe hes not with me anymore." Thankfully she has support from family members like Zabi's cousin, "I'll try my best to be like a father to Zabi's kids and treat them the same way I treat my kids." A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family as they try to put together the pieces from here, "When we left Afghanistan he was like, we are going to have a bright future over there."
