NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Every week, hundreds of people from around the world visit The Free Pizza Dude account on Imgur, created by a Nashville man, to either ask for food assistance or help out."I've been able to carve out this kind of wholesome side of Imgur where people come to my post to help other people," said Mr. Puckett, the virtual Imgur user with more than 7 million up-votes. "We had all of these people kind of wanting to help, but had no idea how to."In August 2019, Mr. Puckett created The Free Pizza Dude page to help connect the people in need of a meal to willing donors."We're not trying to end world hunger we're trying to make people happy. [Those] who would not otherwise be able to afford this kind of food," said Mr. Puckett. So far, the page has allowed people to send nearly 4,000 pizzas to strangers in need.Mr. Puckett knows what it is like to be hungry."I had problems with alcohol and was homeless for four years before I got on Imgur. I knew if I ever got on my feet again, I wanted to do something where we could send food to people that wasn't rice and beans - that wasn't food shelf kind of food - something they could really enjoy and remember for some time because I always did and I always remembered the food people sent me," he said.Through his website, pizza angels from all over the world have sent paid-for pizzas to strangers and fulfilled more than 100 detailed grocery requests too."Everybody wants to help, but they want to have fun doing it, and they want to have security that they're helping the right person, and I think we've done all three of those things," he said.Mr. Puckett puts out a new call for pizza donations every Friday. He said the reason he does this is simple."I was homeless for so long and so many people from my childhood days helped me. I needed help from every person in my life for so many years so once I finally got stable, and got an apartment and home I knew I had to be that person," he said.Nashville Mayor John Cooper recently named Mr. Puckett a Community Hero of the Week. This story was first reported by Hannah McDonald at WTVF in Nashville, Tennessee. 2136

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — A Milwaukee man has been charged for the assault and kidnap of a woman who he met on the app 'Tagged.'According to the criminal complaint, the victim said she entered a vehicle with Davoncia Kelly McAfee near the intersection of 58th and Hampton on Nov. 13. While in the car, an unknown man appeared from the back seat, wrapped his arms around her face, put what felt like a handgun to the back of her neck and told her to come to the back seat where he placed a blindfold over her eyes.McAfee then drove the vehicle for approximately 15 more minutes before coming to a stop. He and the man in the backseat told the victim not to move or scream as they led her out of the vehicle and up a set of stairs into an apartment living room area. The victim was then assaulted by multiple male individuals in the home. She was later taken back to her vehicle while still wearing the blindfold and was told not to turn around when she was dropped off or they would "blow her head off."During the incident, the suspects took the victim's cellphone, sweatshirt, Wisconsin ID card, and paperwork from her employer. The victim later made a Facebook post using images from McAfee's Tagged account to identify him and turn him into the Milwaukee Police Department. Police conducted interviews with McAfee where he admitted to setting up dates on the internet for sex.Police also executed a search warrant at the apartment where the victim was taken. They found a magazine for a Smith and Wesson handgun with six unfired .40 caliber cartridges and an ammunition tray with more unfired cartridges inside the residence.McAfee faces charges for First Degree Sexual Assault (Forcibly Aiding & Abetting) - PTAC and As a Party to a Crime, Kidnapping (Carries Forcibly) - PTAC, As a Party to a Crime. He faces imprisonment up to 100 years, a fine of 0,000 or both.  1912

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Police District 2 officers were heartbroken to find a dog abandoned for several days in a cold pickup truck.Scripps station WTMJ in Milwaukee crews were there just in time to see the rescue as police broke into the truck at 17th and National Avenue.Parking tickets on the windshield show it had been there since Saturday. As of Tuesday morning, the car still remains at that location. There was no food or water inside, but the seats were soiled with feces.Despite all of this, the dog seemed to be in good spirits.Offices took it to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission, better known as MADACC.Doctor Libby Gutting checked him out. She tells us you should call police if you see a dog alone in a vehicle for more than an hour."An animal could suffer from hypothermia or even pass away from that so we definitely don't want to leave animals outside in any sort of condition especially for a car that's not running," said Dr. Gutting, Medical Director of MADACC.Dr. Gutting said the pitbull is in great shape. If his owner does not come in to claim him in five days, he could go up for adoption."Our concern is that this person has an issue with the way they need to care for their pet which means they need help," said Dr. Gutting. The captain with Milwaukee Police District 2 told WTMJ the owner, in this case, could face an animal cruelty charge.  1419

Months into working from home, it’s time to check in with yourself. How is your work-life balance? Have you figured out when and how you work best? And when did you last shower? As work and home life meld, it’s difficult to maintain boundaries, stay productive and take care of your mental health amid the pandemic.Since work from home orders are likely to stick around for those lucky enough to do their jobs away from their workplace, now is a good opportunity to professionalize your work habits and find a sustainable setup for the coming months.Know yourself and work accordinglyYou may instinctively know when you’re at your peak performance and what conditions you need to achieve it. Some people are at their best right after they’ve had their morning coffee and settled in at a desk. Others might sleep in and then start work while still in bed.Clearly defining when and how you work best helps you set clear expectations for yourself and your colleagues. To understand when you’re most productive, career coach and entrepreneur Felecia Hatcher recommends conducting a time audit. Track your workday in 15-minute increments for one week. “A time audit is going to radically change your life personally, and then you get to showcase to your boss when your most productive times of day are,” Hatcher says.Keep track of your audit in a spreadsheet or a notebook, detailing meetings, lunch breaks, blocks of time dedicated to heads-down work, and stretches when you don’t get much done. This will reveal when you’re productive and when you might be better served taking a break, going for a walk or taking a power nap.Next, think about conditions that help you focus. Some need to sit in a specific spot to accomplish anything. Others might just need an internet connection, wherever that may be. Bari Tessler, a financial therapist who has worked from home for two decades, says that only you know how you work best.“Every day is different and you have to go with the flow,” says Tessler. “You just have to know who you are.” Ignore prescriptive guidance about not working from bed or getting dressed like you’re going into the office. Create the conditions you feel most comfortable with.Structure — and communicate — your balanceUse your insights about how and when you work best to flesh out your idea of work-life balance or something close to it. Then bring that plan to your colleagues for a candid conversation.“I always look at the equation of time, money, energy, family and health, and I make all my decisions from that,” Tessler says.Finding your personal balance might mean being more deliberate about what you’ve already been doing, or making changes. For example, if you found you’re not particularly productive during regular working hours, think of ways to mix it up. You might want to block out time midday to run errands or meditate. Or maybe you can work alternative hours, outside of the typical 9-to-5. This might be a necessity for parents as some school districts plan to start the school year with virtual learning. If you haven’t already, establish an ongoing dialogue with your manager and colleagues. Hatcher advises using what you learned during your evaluation to guide the conversation.“Structuring your time is about setting healthy boundaries personally and setting work boundaries,” Hatcher says. “And using what you learned from your time audit can help you have a data-driven conversation with your boss rather than anecdotal conversation.”You might have to make compromises, depending on job requirements, but you’ll be working from a good starting point.Give yourself a breakYou may have seen social media posts saying, “You’re not just working from home, you’re working from home in the middle of a global pandemic.” While that might come across as a little melodramatic, it’s true.Between managing personal and financial fears around the coronavirus pandemic and grappling with the national conversation around racial inequity, having to face your job as if everything is normal can be exhausting.Hatcher says: “Things are so weighty right now. … We’re so quick to say, ‘My life is falling apart but I gotta show up tomorrow,’ but no, don’t do that. Take a break.”If you’re feeling burned out by work or overwhelmed by the news, look into taking time off if your work situation allows. An internet-free staycation can help you unplug, center yourself and return to work refreshed. This article was written by NerdWallet and was originally published by The Associated Press.More From NerdWalletCan You Really Trust Your Payment App?Why You Might Not Want to Zero Out Every Credit CardWhat to Do When Your 0 Weekly Unemployment Check ExpiresSean Pyles is a writer at NerdWallet. NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Families in one South Bay city got one step closer to relief from skyrocketing rent Thursday as a group turned in signatures supporting a measure that could make its way to the November ballot. The National City Families for Fair Rent coalition has collected 3,500 signatures from registered voters in favor of implementing a program to stabilize rent. The initiative is called the National City Rent Control and Community Stabilization Ordinance. In order to get the measure on the November ballot, the coalition needs the signatures of 2,300 registered National City voters.Researchers say the measure is important because National City is one of the last safe havens for families struggling to pay rent. "It is one of the last places, sort of the last refuge for families struggling to get by have been able to afford to rent," said Dr. Peter Brownell,Research Director at Center on Policy Initiatives. The city council can now take one of three actions. Enact it without sending it to the ballot, send it to the ballot or request a report from city staff. If a report is requested, the council will have to reconvene and take one of the first two options within 30 days. 1220
