This past weekend, they held an event offering , 14-inch pizzas to all customers. "It's trying times for everyone so we figured it was something fun and the least we could do to try and help everyone out, from families that are out of work, to industry employees, to our first responders," Yankle added. A steady stream of young people came and left various houses.Normally, Jean Hoeger says it gets pretty wild, but when she went out Friday, "it was pretty quiet you didn't see the hoards of kids walking on the street which is kinda common in the College Area."Hoeger is a representative of the College Area Public Safety Committee."There were parties but they all seemed to be inside small groups, loud noise was not really present so nothing you could call into the police department for a noise disturbance," Hoeger said. She said she was proud the students seem to be abiding by the rules, saying, "If they're partying inside their houses with their little group of friends that's fabulous!"Hoeger said huge parties are the most "disconcerting to us any time of the year because it's just disruptive to the whole neighborhood, when they leave most of them are drunk and unfortunately a lot of sexual assaults happen."Any San Diego State students found violating the university's Stay Home order, which lasts through Monday, Nov. 2 at 6 a.m., could face disciplinary action, up to expulsion.Since Aug. 24, SDSU has issued nearly 970 violations, according to a statement from the university."They should be afraid of the consequences of their actions, whether related to COVID or in regards to the San Diego Municipal Code with regard to noise," Hoeger said.Violating the cease and desist orders could result in a misdemeanor offense and a ,000 fine. 2135

Wednesday’s meeting was the first step in the budget for the year. 10News spoke with Barbara Bry just before the meeting. “All nine of us have submitted our budget priorities. What’s interesting is there’s a lot of consensus among all of us as to how much the city should be allocating its funding," Bry said.The latest 10News-Union-Tribune polls shows the top issue as homelessness. It’s one of the issues Bry says will receive major support in next yea’s budget. Wednesday, the budget committee reviewed and adopted a set of funding priorities for what will be a priority for funding in the next fiscal year. The committee’s list is alphabetical at this point, so the issues aren’t ranked by importance. The list does, however, reflect what our poll uncovered: climate action, homelessness, parks and recreation facilities, public safety and sidewalk and street repairs are all important issues. As for our poll, homelessness and affordable housing came out on top at 21 and 20 percent respectively. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego may soon have more living spaces in commercial zones, due to ease of regulations approved by the San Diego City Council Tuesday.The amendments to the Live/Work Quarters rules allow for smaller living space in a place of business, add more business types that can include living areas, and authorize additional locations where Live/Work Quarters are allowed.The changes reduce the required minimum floor area from 750 square feet to 500 square feet, and eliminate the requirement for additional parking.RELATED: San Diego housing report focuses on region's needsTuesday’s amendments were part of Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s Housing SD reforms.“This is going to put underutilized commercial and industrial spaces to work in tackling San Diego’s housing crisis,” Mayor Faulconer said. “Lifting restrictions on housing will bring new life to old buildings and allow businesses owners to live where they work. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Rent isn't the only thing in San Diego on the rise - so are the costs and fees associated with it. A recent study from HotPads, a Zillow-owned site, says San Diegans can pay ,270 per year in overlooked costs and fees that come with moving. The includes security and pet deposits, pet rent and parking. The biggest chunk comes from the security deposit, which is typically one month's rent. In all, it works out to an additional 6 per month. "As rent prices continue to rise and rent affordability remains a concern, it is important for renters to consider all their potential expenses before planning a move," said Joshua Clark, economist at HotPads. RELATED: Making It in San Diego: Ways to save on your rental homeApril Steingrebe, who owns New West Property Management, said it's vital to read your lease thoroughly before renting a place, looking for any additional responsibilities. "There's all kinds of things they might charge you for at move-in, so you want to be sure to check before you sign anything," she said. Steingrebe focuses largely on downtown, renting out privately owned condos. She says some buildings even require tenants hire move-in coordinators to make sure things go smoothly and not disturb other residents. Renters don't pay the HOA directly, but landlord's can pass along any sort of fines or violations they commit. "Unauthorized moves, these buildings downtown, you can't just walk in with your couch, you have to schedule it," Steingrebe said, adding dumping trash inappropriately can also lead to fines. The biggest financial issues that arise for renters come at the end of a lease, when it comes to getting a security deposit refunded, Steingrebe said. She said the best defense is to document with photos and text any damage or issues that occur throughout the year, starting with an initial move-in inspection. She said it's typical for landlords to deduct for carpet cleaning at the end of the lease. Renters can hire their own company to do it and leave the receipt, but if the job is sub-par, they could end up paying twice. Renters do have the right to use their property and not be charged for normal wear and tear. For instance, it's totally fine to nail a picture to the wall. Doing something bigger, however, such as a mounting a large TV to a wall, could lead to extra withdrawals from your security deposit. 2837
