A man is hospitalized after a flight heading to Tulsa, Okla. was diverted to Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport due to an odor on-board.A Frontier Airlines flight that took off from San Diego had to land in Phoenix due to the odor, fire officials said.The plane landed without incident and most passengers were able to de-board from the plane, a Phoenix fire spokesman said. Seventeen people were evaluated as a precaution after an "odor came through the plane and was then gone," a fire spokesman said. A group of Pac-12 football players says it won't practice or play until its concerns about playing during the COVID-19 pandemic and other racial and economic issues in college sports are addressed. “We believe a football season under these conditions would be reckless and put us at needless risk,” the players said in their news release. “We will not play until there is real change that is acceptable to us.”The players posted a statement on The Players' Tribune website and on social media and sent out a news release. One of the players tells The Associated Press that more than 400 of his peers throughout the Pac-12 have been communicating about the issues they are raising. The players are concerned about the risks of COVID-19 and think the conference and NCAA lack transparency, uniformity and adequate enforcement infrastructure. The news release listed the names of 13 Pac-12 players, including Oregon star safety Jevon Holland.The NCAA has released guidelines for COVID-19 testing and other health and safety protocols to be used by schools, and Power Five conferences — the Pac-12, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC and SEC — are finalizing their own similar recommendations.The Pac-12 also announced Friday that 20 hours per week of mandatory team activities for football, including weight training, meetings and unpadded walk-through practices, will be permitted to begin Monday. Preseason football practice for Pac-12 schools is set to begin Aug. 17.The states of Arizona and California, home to half the Pac-12 schools, have been hit by some of the most severe surges in COVID-19 cases over the last month. A college student from Georiga's jail sentence was reduced from four months to two months on Tuesday in the Cayman Islands after she and her boyfriend violated strict COVID-19 measures last month.According to The New York Times and CNN, the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal reduced 18-year-old Skylar Mack and her 24-year-old boyfriend Vanjae Ramgeet's prison sentence, saying the initial sentence "was not appropriate."Last week, Mack and Ramgeet were sentenced to four months after they both violated the island's mandatory two-week quarantine.Per the Associated Press, Mack arrived on the island on Nov. 27, but on Nov. 29, she broke quarantine by leaving with her boyfriend to attend a water sports event.According to The Times, Mack and Ramgeet initially pleaded guilty to breaking the quarantine rules and were to complete 40 hours of community service. They were also fined ,100.But last week, the prosecutor appealed the ruling saying the sentences were too lenient and a judge sentenced to four months in jail.The Cayman Compass reported that Mack nor Ramgeet plan to appeal the Court of Appeal's ruling. 1121

A federal judge approved the public release of documents that had been under seal in a case involving Ghislaine Maxwell.She is the former girlfriend and confidant of the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.She's also an alleged accomplice in his sex-trafficking ring.The judge ordered the court to have the documents ready within a week.They're from a 2015 defamation case brought by Virginia Roberts Giuffre.She says Epstein sexually abused her while she was a minor -- and Maxwell was involved.Guiffre also says Epstein forced her to have sex with Britain's Prince Andrew.He denies that and the lawsuit was settled in 2017.Included in the documents are Maxwell's 2016 deposition, in which she denies knowing Epstein had a scheme to recruit underage girls for sex.Maxwell has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in the Epstein case and is in jail, pending trial.Epstein died in a jail cell last August while awaiting trial. 940
