Tropical Storm Karen formed early Sunday, and a tropical storm warning has been issued for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, along with Grenada and its territories, the National Hurricane Center said.Karen is about 105 miles northwest of Grenada, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, the center said in its latest advisory.A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area.A tropical storm watch has been issued for the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico - including Vieques and Culebra - and the British Virgin Islands, according to the advisory.Karen is forecast to continue moving in a west-northwest direction Sunday, away from the Windward Islands, and move across the eastern Caribbean Sea Sunday night and Monday.The storm could bring enough rain to cause flash flooding and mudslides, especially in mountainous areas, on the Windward and Leeward islands, the center said.Karen is expected to "pass near or over" Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands on Tuesday as a tropical storm, the center said.On the other side of the Atlantic, a low pressure system a few hundred miles southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands has a 90% chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm overnight Sunday or Monday, the center said. In the small town of Divide, Colorado there’s a wolf sanctuary called Colorado Wolf and Wildlife center. “We focus on education, conservation and preservation of wolves,” says Darlene Koboble, the CEO and director of Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. “I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be working with wolves. It basically started with one wolf-dog that I rescued from a shelter from being euthanized, because she had part wolf in her. When I rescued her, she was my inspiration to be a voice for wolves, because they’ve been one of the most persecuted animals in history.”The gray wolf has been classified by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as an endangered species throughout the country since 1978. According to Fish and Wildlife Service, there were only around 1,000 gray wolves at the time, mostly in Minnesota. Today, there are more than 5,000 across the country, but there are disagreements on whether this number defines the population as recovered. “There is a big gap of wolves right now, and that gap is Colorado,” says Rob Edward of the Rocky Mountain Wolf Project (RMWP). “Colorado has one of the biggest deer populations, but it’s missing it’s primary top-level carnivore.”Edward said the RMWP’s primary goal is to introduce the gray wolf back into Colorado, which is on the state’s 2020 ballot. “They are as important to the forest of the west as a wildfire,” Edward says. “Without them, our wild places are impoverish.” In 2011, the gray wolf was dropped from the endangered list in Idaho and Montana. Wyoming also lost federal protections of gray wolves. Now, the Trump administration will seek to end those federal protections nationwide across the whole country. Early on, they were on the endangered species list and we couldn’t do anything but scare them away from our property. Taking them off the endangered species list is good so the numbers can be managed. I don’t hate wolves, but I can see the argument that they don’t want the wolf to go away again. But I don’t think that’s a worry if they’re managed correctly.”U.S. Fish and Wildlife have until March 2020 to decide if the gray wolf comes off the endangered species list. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says at least five people are dead following a plane crash in Florida near Pahokee airport at 3800 S.R. 715.Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said a twin-engine Piper aircraft went down in Lake Okeechobee while approaching the Pahokee Airport at around 3:30 p.m.The aircraft when down just north of the airport, about 400 yards from shore.The flight departed from Tampa International Airport, according to the FAA. Officials at the airport said the plane was at Sheltair Aviation's hangar. PBSO said one person was seen swimming away from the airplane, but has not been located.Palm Beach County Fire Rescue divers are currently searching in the water, the sheriff's office said.The FAA issued an Alert Notice triggering the search for the twin-engine Piper Aircraft. 814
