SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - City Council leaders voted 5-3 to oppose President Donald Trump's executive order to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.The resolution, introduced by Concilmember Georgette Gomez, joins several other cities and states who have also stated their opposition."The border wall is a huge mistake for our region economically and environmentally. I am happy the City Council voted to pass my resolution. Our tax dollars should be spent uplifting the quality of life for all San Diegans, and tackling our issues on road infrastructure, housing, and homelessness," Gomez said following the vote. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Dangerously hot temperatures continue to scorch San Diego County's inland areas and deserts. Many of those areas hit peak temperatures well into the triple digits. Many inland residents chose to spend the day on the coast to escape the blistering heat.They say home is where the heart is. But for Peggy Dudenhoeffer, home is where the heat is. The Fallbrook resident drove 50 miles south Saturday, to enjoy the day in Bankers Hill, where it was about 15 degrees cooler."We feel like we're on vacation!" she said. "I like it better out here. We're lucky to be in San Diego to be able to sit outdoors in the summertime."She and her friend were at Barrio Star restaurant, which moved its operations all outdoors because of COVID-19 restrictions. But the restaurant was not going to let the heatwave turn customers away. They installed misters onto their rooftop overflow area."Right now, with this weather, it couldn't be better," Barrio Star General Manager, Michael Simpson, said. "Some nice mist, some nice picnic tables, and some nice margaritas!"Some preferred being closer to natural water. ABC 10News met professional skater, Lance Lynn, at Mission Beach."Inland, it's crazy hot," Lynn said. "Yesterday, I had to go to Ocean Beach just to escape the heat."Lynn said there was no way he could practice his skills back near his inland area home. With the ocean breeze, he said he can glide around without melting in the sun."When you get out towards the coast, then you can get to enjoy the beach," Lynn said. "This is what it's meant for!"The National Weather Service forecasts the heat advisory in the County's inland areas to remain in effect until 9 pm Saturday. And through his daughter and her excitement over Christmas, understanding how it works, and then ultimately why it works and why we do it is one of the things that propels Mike forward,” Black told 10News.Clint Black created the idea from his 1995 holiday album and wrote the musical with playwright James Sasser."It was a real odyssey for me to try to find the true meaning of Christmas and it's what we're trying very hard to get across in the play."Randolf struggles to find the joy of the season with the help of his family."For me, the true meaning behind Christmas as I discovered it through writing the album was really the message to look around to others and what they need. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Carlsbad leaders this week approved nearly 0,000 to construct a new trail planned to loop around the city's strawberry fields.Carlsbad City Council voted to add the Hub Park trail to the city's Capital Improvement Program, a 2.4-mile trail on the south shore of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in an area dubbed "Hub Park."Hub Park sits on land owned by SDG&E. The city has a lease agreement with SDG&E for a portion of the trail, but not the portion that would connect to nearby roads.RELATED: San Diego County park rangers recommend these trails in 2019The city voted to take 4,500 from the General Capital Construction Fund to fund building the eight-foot wide trail.The trail would lead from a new Interstate 5 bridge to a bluff within the leased property that overlooks the lagoon, the city says.
