FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Residents in a Fort Pierce community on Hutchinson Island had a special surprise for Joseph Malizia.They gave the 22-year-old man with special needs a box full of flags Thursday to replace the ones that had been stolen from him recently."I love it. I love that they care about me," Malizia said when looked at the flags from all over the world packed in the box."The community wanted to show Joseph there are more good people," Heather Thomson said.Neighbors in the Mariner Bay community said they often see Malizia waving different flags at the beach and along State Road A1A and in the neighborhood.His father said Malizia took a liking to flags as a child while attending his brother and sister's surfing tournaments. Fiat Chrysler is recalling 4.8 million vehicles over an issue that could prevent drivers from turning off cruise control.Only one incident related to the malfunction has been reported to Fiat Chrysler, and there are no reported injuries.The issue can be triggered when a driver taps on the gas pedal while cruise control is activated, the company said, potentially causing a short circuit.Related: Why the auto tariffs would be bad for AmericaWhen that happens, the vehicle can become locked in cruise control. The typical methods for exiting cruise control — tapping on the brakes or hitting the designated switch — can stop working. Four former officers charged in connection with the death of George Floyd appeared in a Minneapolis court Tuesday. The hearing focused on motions to allow body camera video to be shared, and motions the defendants filed to lift a gag order.Floyd was killed on May 25 after officers confronted him in Minneapolis.
