SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new program is helping San Diegans get back into the classroom without the fear of crippling student loans. Offered through the San Diego Workforce Partnership and UC San Diego Extension, the program costs nothing upfront.It's called an Income Share Agreement (ISA); tuition is covered, and students agree to pay a small proportion of their income for a set period of time after graduating.The programs include front-end web development, Java programming, business intelligence, or digital marketing; each costs ,500.Adam Taylor is part of the first cohort of students. The Marine Corps veteran is still working to pay back student loans from several years ago but wanted to further his education to increase his salary."It seemed like a little more security in taking a chance and investing in yourself, as opposed to the school loans where they really don't care if you get a job or not," said Taylor, who's studying digital marketing. The program is possible thanks to million in grant funding, with Strada Education Network providing an initial .2 million. Strada granted the money to the Workforce to increase access and diversity in tech through ISAs.The program succeeds if students succeed. Those who get a job and pay back into the program will support future students. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was stabbed to death outside a Pacific Beach 7-Eleven store late Friday after an argument with another man.The man was stabbed moments after he walked out of the convenience store at about 1 a.m. Saturday, according to San Diego Police. The victim, a 40- to 50-year-old man, got into an argument with another man outside the store before he was stabbed in the upper torso.The suspect, a black male in his 20s or 30s and dressed in a black shirt and dark jeans, fled the scene with a skateboard, police say.San Diego Fire-Rescue paramedics performed life-saving measures upon arrival but the victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. They have not been identified.A portion of Mission Blvd. at Grand Ave. was closed until about 6:30 a.m. to investigate. Police have been in contact with local businesses to gather evidence and possibly surveillance video that may have captured the incident. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was medevaced from a Carnival cruise ship Monday after a reported stroke. According to the Coast Guard, the rescue happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday roughly 45 miles northwest of San Diego. A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was launched to assist. Once on the scene, the Jayhawk crew lowered a rescue swimmer to the cruise ship to assess the 58-year-old man. The crew took the man to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla just after 9:20 p.m., according to the Coast Guard. The man is said to be in stable condition. 540

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A motorcyclist was killed Monday night, after a crash with a suspected DUI driver in Linda Vista. Police tell 10News the driver of a Nissan ran a red light on Genesee Avenue, slamming into the motorcyclist and dragging them under the car for at least 100 feet. His 8-year-old daughter was in the car when the crash happened. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A mom shopping with her one-year-son leapt into action when she found a car burglar inside her SUV in University City.On Wednesday morning at the Vons on Governor Drive, Gloria spent about 15 minutes shopping inside. Her son was sitting in the cart. As soon as she pushed the loaded cart out of the store, her eyes zeroed in on her SUV, parked close to the store."I was kind of in disbelief. Someone was in the car and the passenger door was wide open," said Gloria.Gloria saw a man rummaging through her center console and started screaming. She pushed every button on her key fob."The panic alarm actually went off. Scared the living daylights out of him, and he took off running," said Gloria. Moments after, she found her phone in her purse and starting recording. Surveillance video shows her take off in his direction. Holding tightly to her son, she continued to scream. Still pushing the cart, she followed him. "Definitely adrenaline and pure anger," said Gloria.Gloria has been a victim of three car burglaries in the past five years."I'm going to get you this time. You're not going to do this to anybody else," Gloria kept thinking. Less than a minute later, she followed him across the parking lot to a U-Haul truck before he drove off. She got a photo of him and the license plate. Possibly realizing Gloria got video, the guy ditched the truck, which was recovered hours later. She says police told her it was loaded with stuff: some of her belongings and other items, likely stolen. Police say the license plate led them to a local address, but the man wasn't there.
