(KGTV) — Los Angeles police are searching for the person behind the fatal shooting of an off-duty officer early Saturday.An officer was flagged down just before 1 a.m. over reports of a shooting in the area of Avenue 26 at Humboldt St. in the Lincoln Heights area. The officer found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, one of them identified as off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer Juan José Diaz."It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm the off-duty LAPD Officer has passed away as a result of the shooting. The study claims that from 1600 and 1903, the position of the North Pacific jet stream over California was linked to the amount of precipitation and the severity of the following wildfire season. After 1904, the connection between winter moisture brought by the jet stream and the severity of wildfire season weakened. "The moisture availability over California is still strongly linked to the position of the jet stream, but fire no longer is," said co-author Valerie Trouet, an associate professor of dendrochronology at the University of Arizona Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research.
