A woman was accused of hiding stolen items inside her shirt at a North Carolina Staples last week, prompting the manager to call for a police officer only to find out the woman is pregnant with twins, WSOC-TV reported. According to WSOC's report, Sherell Bates was shopping for back to school items at a Staples office supplies retailer in Pineville, N.C. She told WSOC that during her transaction at the register, an officer approached to see what was under her shirt. "Initially, I thought he was joking, so my response was, 'Twins,’” Bates said. “I'm 34 weeks with twins. I'm having a boy and a girl." The officer didn't buy the story. "At that point, to avoid him asking me again, I actually lifted my shirt just a little bit, just to expose my belly, so he could see that I'm just a regular pregnant person buying school supplies,” Bates told WSOC.Bates said that when confronted, the manager admitted that they asked the officer to investigate her. Bates said she hopes that Staples will provide sensitivity training to its employees. On Monday, Staples said it had fired the manager involved in the incident. A woman was thrown from a vehicle on I-10 south of Eloy, Arizona. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, troopers responded to a crash on eastbound Interstate 10 near Picacho, just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. Troopers received 911 calls about the incident, and one caller told DPS a woman was thrown from a vehicle. When troopers arrived on the scene they found a woman in her twenties who had been killed. The body was found on the right shoulder. The victim has not been identified. According to DPS, the suspect was traveling in a white Volkswagen sedan. No other suspect description has been given. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 were closed near Eloy for about seven hours, but have since reopened.   784

A young boy who was abandoned at a Goodwill drop-off in Mississippi is now with Child Protective Services and police have at least one suspect in custody.Southaven police posted on social media Monday about the boy, who they believe is about 2 years old. They told WREG he had a change of clothes, some food and a note written on a paper towel that read, “child abandoned … no phone number for mom.”Southaven is just south of Memphis across the Mississippi border.The boy was unable to give his name or the names of any parents or relatives to officers, and they posted to social media asking the public for help identifying any relative or possible suspects.Later Monday afternoon, police said they received numerous tips in addition to surveillance video."Southaven Police received numerous tips, and with the assistance of F.B.I. offices in both Mississippi, and Tennessee, along with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department a suspect related to this case was taken into custody in Memphis at approximately 15:30 hours. A woman was removed from an American Airlines flight, reportedly because of language on a mask she was wearing.Arlinda Johns shared a video of the incident on her social media accounts at the end of the July. The video begins with her covering her original mask with another one as the plane she is on drives toward the runway.Her original mask read “F*** 12”, and she was asked by an airline attendant to cover it up because of the language.The number “12” in this use is a reference to law enforcement. Johns told Local 10 News she is an “abolitionist” and supports efforts to “defund and abolish the police.”She says after she put on the new mask, the flight attendant returned and told Johns, “I better not see that other mask.” Johns says she responded, “I said, ‘Leave me alone, lady.’ She stood there, she said, ‘okay, I got you.’”“Everything she asked me to do, I did,” Johns said in her video.The video shows the plane driving back to the gate in Charlotte and Johns being asked to leave the plane.During the conversation with security, Johns repeatedly asks not to be called sir and asks for an explanation why she is being removed. The gentleman does not elaborate and only says she has to get off the plane.Once inside the airport, Johns again asks why she was removed.
