WAYNESBORO, Tennessee — A litter of puppies were rescued from a septic tank in a rural part of Tennessee after they were dumped by their former owner.Officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency called workers with the County Road Animal Rescue in Waynesboro were called to take the animals.Seven pups and their mother were found in an old septic tank. A second mother and four pups were also found in a nearby woodshed.Rescue workers believe the dogs hid their pups in order to protect them. Both mother dogs were emaciated and in need of care.In a Facebook post, rescue officials encouraged pet owners to spay and neuter their pets."We can’t possibly keep up with all these dogs. Our waiting list is absolutely full. Call People For Animals today if you haven’t fixed your dog yet," the post stated. 843

The meeting might give her more insight as she continues her broader talks on how to prevent such a tragedy from happening again. DeVos has said she is open to allowing guns in schools but says the decision should be left to local communities.President Trump is in favor of arming teachers, saying that too many of these shootings happen in gun free zones.“A gun-free zone is, ‘Let’s go in and let’s attack, because bullets aren’t coming back at us,'” Trump said.Students at Stoneman Douglas have been vocal for change since the shooting last month. Their rallies were heard loudly and they have put pressure on lawmakers to enact gun reform during their visits to Tallahassee and during school walkouts. During a news conference, DeVos gave credit to the students for finding their voice and for taking interest in seeing what adults are going to do in response to the massacre. "People across the country in states and communities have addressed some of the concerns, some of the issues that have arisen here," DeVos said. "But we need to help elevate those opportunities and make sure people know there are solutions that can be engaged immediately."When pressed about the solutions she referenced, the secretary did not offer specifics. WEST CHESTER TWP., Ohio — West Chester Police are investigating a racist letter one family said was mailed to them earlier in the week. The letter, laden with racial slurs and derogatory language, demands the family take down their yard signs supporting President-elect Joe Biden and the Black Lives Matter movement.Mia Harlan said when her husband Brian opened a letter from the mail late last week, his reaction told her it wasn't a typical piece of mail."The way he responded, the way he acted, told me something wasn't right," Harlan said.The Harlans have a Black Lives Matter flag and a Biden campaign sign in their yard; the letter the couple received threatens vandalism if the signs aren't taken down.It states, in part, "if you don't take that s*** down in a hurry, we'll be aiming at your house, your cars and you."Racial slurs and expletives in the letter have been censored.Harlan said she was disgusted and angry, and the couple reported the letter to West Chester Police."Stay away from my family," she said. "Stay away from my property...what else would they do? Will they actually come to our home and try to harm us? Or try to harm our children? NASA says asteroid 2018VP1 is very small, about 6.5 feet, and “poses no threat to Earth!”According to NASA, the asteroid has a .41% chance of entering our planet’s atmosphere and even if it did, it would disintegrate due to its extremely small size.The asteroid was discovered in 2018 by astronomers in California who are on the lookout for dangerous space rocks and other cosmic surprises, The New York Times reports.Asteroid 2018VP1 seems to be making headlines because of its proximity to the contentious U.S. election, but another small asteroid buzzed by Earth just this month and it came closer to the planet than any other on record, according to NASA.The SUV-sized space rock passed 1,830 miles above the southern Indian Ocean on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 12:08 a.m. ET.Since 2005, NASA has been assigned by Congress to find 90% of the near-Earth asteroid that are about 460 feet or larger in size.“These larger asteroids pose a much greater threat if they were to impact, and they can be detected much farther away from Earth, because their rate of motion across the sky is typically much smaller at that distance,” wrote NASA. 1333
