CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) -- Border Patrol and the Coast Guard are investigating after a Panga Boat washed ashore in North County Monday morning. According to agents, the 18-foot-long boat was found early Monday morning on Tamarack State Beach in Carlsbad. Agents discovered several life jackets and gas cans inside the vessel. CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) — The last two cottages to grace San Onofre Beach and replace the deteriorated trailers near Camp Pendleton will be dedicated Thursday.The Camp Pendleton Cottage Renovation Project has worked to replace 13 of the 30-year-old FEMA trailers at the beach with manufactured homes. The new cottages are build using metal roofs, composite siding, stainless-steel appliances, and furniture. Cottages are also constructed to include wheelchair accessibility, railings, and wider hallways for service members with special needs. (AP) — SpaceX's sleek, new crew capsule arrived at the International Space Station on Sunday, acing its second milestone in just over a day.No one was aboard the Dragon capsule launched Saturday on its first test flight, only an instrumented dummy. But that quickly changed once the hatch swung open and the space station astronauts floated inside."A new generation of space flight starts now with the arrival of @SpaceX's Crew Dragon to the @Space_Station," NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine tweeted. "Congratulations to all for this historic achievement getting us closer to flying American Astronauts on American rockets."This beefed-up, redesigned Dragon is the first American-made, designed-for-crew spacecraft to pull up to the station in eight years. The next one coming up will have its own two-man crew.The space station's three astronauts had front-row seats as the white 27-foot-long (8-meter-long) capsule neatly docked, a little early no less. TV cameras on Dragon as well as the station provided stunning views of one another throughout the rendezvous.Just two hours after the Dragon's grand entrance, the station crew entered to take air samples. The astronauts wore oxygen masks and hoods until getting the all-clear.If the six-day demo goes well, SpaceX could launch two astronauts this summer under NASA's commercial crew program. "It looked like a war zone of black smoke everywhere all over the place of all the roads blocked off," Homeowner Bob Payne said.He was at his relative's home when he got the call, and rushed back Carlsbad to see what he could do. He said he was lucky to have been out of town, otherwise he said he would've been on his driveway fighting the flames with a garden hose.His home was one of 65 structures that burned. Firefighters fought as 14 separate fires grew, eventually?covering 26,000 acres.At Bob's home, all that was left was a safe, full of photos of smiling children and their wedding memories. It took two and a half long years, to rebuild. He didn't want to leave their prime hilltop location, close to the beach and to town."It looks different, we changed our house some. NASA's Perseverance blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, atop an Atlas V rocket Thursday morning. It's the first step in an ambitious project to bring the first Martian rock samples back to Earth to be analyzed for evidence of ancient life. The six-wheeled rover will drill down and collect tiny geological samples that will eventually be retrieved and brought home in about a decade.
