Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong updated his Facebook account Saturday, saying Singapore has signed several agreements with China, including the third government-to-government project in Chongqing in southwest China, launch of the negotiations on an upgrade of the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, and collaboration on education, urban management and the customs.
In his keynote address, Xi articulated a bold vision that China intends to pursue in order to strengthen partnership with African countries in diverse fields like trade, industry, health, agriculture, education, security and environment.
China also pledged a 20-billion-yuan (3-billion-U.S. dollar) fund to help other developing countries combat climate change, according to the statement.
He added that China firmly supports the efforts of the ROK and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to improve bilateral relations and promote reconciliation.
Sakakibara Sadayuki, chair of the Japan Business Federation, said the downturn of bilateral trade in the past three years was partially due to the strained political and diplomatic relations between Japan and China.
