SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — New numbers show almost 40% of people who test positive for COVID-19 in San Diego County are between the ages of 20 and 39.As more businesses begin to open up, more Californians are testing positive for the coronavirus."It really is an alarming trend," Dr. Abisola Olulade, family medicine doctor at Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, said.It is a trend affecting everyone, but most noticeably for younger adults between 20 and 39.RELATED: Gov. But new numbers show the virus does not discriminate."There is a sense that a lot of young people are, well, you're young, and so you feel a little bit more invincible. "We are not immune to the effects of this virus."Younger folks are often the first to venture out to newly reopened businesses or have participated in recent large gatherings like the protests. This is in comparison to older folks, who often continue to stay indoors.The problem is this. Young people who feel no symptoms likely will not be hospitalized. WASH your hands. And WATCH your distance," Dr. Olulade said. "We all have a social and moral obligation to protect the health of others, so I hope that everyone takes that on as a personal responsibility."Dr. Olulade also adds that there is an increasing number of cases of young people who never knew they had underlying conditions until they got tested for COVID-19, and now they're fighting for their lives. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Pilot Robert DeLaurentis touched down this week in San Diego after traveling 26,000 miles in the name of peace.DeLaurentis, known as the peace pilot, flew from the South Pole to the North Pole in a journey that took him to six continents and 22 countries in the name of peace."The mission of the flight is world peace and we're connecting the South Pole and the North Pole, the two places on the planet where peace has always existed and helping to connect everybody in between," DeLaurentis said.His journey to the only two locations on Earth that have never seen war will be chronicled in the upcoming documentary, "Peace Pilot to the Ends of the Earth and Beyond," featuring a collection of interviews, blogging, and observations.DeLaurentis encountered a slew of mechanical issues during his adventure."In fact, when I left Ushuaia for the South Pole I packed up all my personal belongings in a hotel rook with my address I assessed my chances of coming back at about 50%," says DeLaurentis. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Most above-ground power lines in San Diego may soon be gone.The City of San Diego has an aggressive plan to move the lines underground, and they want your input at a meeting next week.People in Ocean Beach aren’t looking forward to the headache during construction, but can’t wait until the power poles are gone.Wayne Samuel works at Ozzie's Import Auto in Ocean Beach. The process to move utility wires outside his business underground has already begun.“So far they’ve taken underground connections from building to power grid,” said Samuel.A map of the plan shows there are 1,000 miles left to transfer underground. The city plans to bury 15 miles a year.The project will be funded by a surcharge on your SDG&E power bill that you’ve been paying since 2002. The city says you won’t see an increase in your bill, even though the price tag is in the billions.The reason for going underground? Fire safety and aesthetics.“I think it’s a good idea getting billboards and power lines out of the visible view of the public,” Samuel said.Arthur Harral has lived in Ocean Beach for more than 40 years. He’s dealt with the pre-construction and paid for the surcharges, but doesn’t mind.“It’s a wonderful deal. In some states across the country, in Colorado, they have them underground, and I’m all for it in San Diego,” said Harral.Construction will last 18 to 36 months. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking that additional victims come forward in a San Diego sexual assault case. According to police, Seth Roberts, 18, was arrested on December 5 for multiple sexual assaults around San Diego County that happened between early October and late November. Based on the circumstances of the cases, the San Diego Police Department Sex Crimes Unit is looking for additional victims or anyone with information. According to police, Roberts reportedly identified himself to young women and befriended them by telling them he’s from out-of-state before sexually assaulting them. According to public records, Roberts was previously arrested in Oklahoma for harboring a runaway child felon. Records also show that in April of 2018, a permanent protective order was issued against Roberts in Oklahoma. The order was filed on behalf of a 16-year-old who says Roberts inappropriately touched her even after she asked him to stop. The protective order goes on to say the victim's mother wanted criminal charges filed, but none are listed. He is currently being held on ,250,000 bail.
