SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - U.S. Coast Guard rescued 13 Mexican nationals from the waters off the coast of La Jolla Saturday.The rescue, located near the Children's Pool, was reported just before 8 a.m., according to the Coast Guard. The 13 individuals, one woman and 12 men, were rescued from a panga boat and brought to shore.Border Patrol officials took the individuals into custody and officials believe they were trying to enter the country illegally.RELATED: One person hurt, possible drug packages found after boat washes ashore in CarlsbadPanga boat attempts to illegally have seen a sharp increased since 2010, according to Border Patrol, as land borders have tightened.Just last month, one person was found injured around several packages of marijuana washed ashore in Carlsbad. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Backers of the two competing plans to replace the stadium site in Mission Valley are making their final pitches to voters in a campaign in which each side has spent millions of dollars."We've learned a lot about the politics of San Diego," said Nick Stone, Project Manager for Soccer City, which is Measure E on the ballot.Stone and his team of developers want the centerpiece of the land to be a new stadium for a Major League Soccer team. Measure E also includes promises for new housing, retail, an entertainment complex, and San Diego River park."That's what people care about," Stone told 10News in an interview the day before the election. "They want to know they're getting fair value, that something's going to happen, and that we're going to live up to the commitments we're making. And we are."Should Measure G win, the city would sell the land to the CSU system with plans for a new west campus for San Diego State University. The centerpiece to this plan is also a stadium, in this case, for the Aztecs football team. SDSU West also includes housing, retail, and a river park, along with new research and classroom space and a science center."San Diegans want their kids and their grandkids to be able to have a great education at San Diego State University. And they know that SDSU needs to expand in order for that to happen," said Yes on G spokesperson Laura Fink.Fink points to Measure G's unique coalition of supporters. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)— A Point Loma boy must now walk to and from school after a thief stole his custom BMX bike. San Diego Police need the public's help to find the man who took the boy's prized possession. BMX riding is 9-year-old Bradley Ramos' favorite pastime. It's a passion that runs in the family. His father, Aaron, dabbled it in as a child. So did Bradley's cousin, Tyler."This bike was actually his cousin's bike when his cousin was his age. Now his cousin is 21 years old, so the bike has been in the family for a while," Ramos said. That was, until Memorial Day morning. Bradley's mother noticed the bike was missing from their front porch."My bike and my helmet got stolen," Bradley said. The family's security camera captured a man walking away with Bradley's bike. The video shows the young man with arm tattoos wearing a hat and backpack. He looks to be wearing glasses and a distinctive white watch."It kind of sucks because I have to get rides to school now when usually, I'd ride my bike and it's way quicker," Bradley said. The bike theft is the second in as many weeks for the Ramos family. Last Monday, thieves made off with at least ,500 worth of tools from Ramos' work truck. "Since that's been happening, we've been bringing the bike in, and we didn't do it just that one night, and it was gone," Ramos said. The BMX bike has thin red wheels with a racing number plate in the front handlebars. It's not a common model, so the Ramos family is asking people to keep an eye out, and alert authorities if they spot it. To the man who made off with the Ramos' family heirloom, Bradley and his father have a stern message. "Give it back, and never come back to this neighborhood again," Bradley said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers over the weekend seized 461 pounds of narcotics worth more than .1 million and captured 14 fugitives.Officers intercepted 350 pounds of methamphetamine, 71 pounds of cocaine and 36 pounds of marijuana.The drugs were seized and the arrests made between Friday, October 27 and Sunday, October 29.The drugs were discovered in vehicles’ floor, car battery, seats, gas tank, tires and quarter panels, according to the agency.The 14 fugitives were arrested for charges including homicide, wire fraud, robbery and parole violations.One of those arrested was Deven Bargas, 20. Authorities say Bargas was wanted by the San Jose Police Department for homicide. 724
