Disney has narrowed down the opening dates for their Stars Wars expansions that are being built at both Disneyland and Disney World.The company announced on their Disney Parks blog that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge will open at Disneyland in summer of 2019. The expansion will open at Disney World in late fall 2019.The exact dates for the opening of both parks will be announced at a later date. They come just a few months before the yet to be named Star Wars Episode 9 is due in theaters on December 20, 2019.At Disneyland the massive expansion is being built north of Frontierland. At Disney World is being built at Disney's Hollywood Studios.The Disney World expansion is also being accompanied by a Star Wars themed hotel. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- An El Cajon police officer responding to a traffic-related call was hospitalized Monday morning after being dragged by an SUV and then struck by another vehicle. Police have identified the suspect as 41-year-old David Francis Cepeda Pangilinan. He is a 5'6" Guamanian male with short brown hair and brown eyes. El Cajon police said officers were called to the 100 block of Washington Avenue at around 8:30 a.m. in response to a vehicle blocking the street with the driver “asleep or unresponsive behind the wheel.”Officers arrived to find the driver and a female passenger asleep inside a black 2019 Volkswagen SUV with California license plate 8LCE117.According to El Cajon police: “When officers woke the occupants, the driver provided identification for someone other than himself and officers began to investigate.During this contact, the driver suddenly started the vehicle and began to put it into gear. One of the officers attempted to detain the driver and keep him from fleeing the scene.In doing so, the officer was trapped in the vehicle and dragged for a distance as the driver fled.As the driver fled with the officer still partially inside the vehicle, the officer was struck by another vehicle that was traveling in the roadway.The officer was ejected from the vehicle and sustained significant injuries.”According to police, the injured officer was taken to the hospital and is in critical but stable condition. No other injuries were reported.A neighbor was doing yard work when the incident happened and watched it unfold."I heard my son scream and crying so I turn around and I see officer down. I run to the officer but the other police man came. The guy was out, completely out. Blood was coming out of his nose, his mouth and his head. And his eyes were rolled in the back of his head. The other officer came and put his hand on his head. I start praying for the guy, the next thing we know we see him move. Eight college football games scheduled this weekend have been canceled due to the spread of the coronavirus. Among them, the championship game between unbeaten Coastal Carolina and Top 25 Louisiana-Lafayette was called off.The Sun Belt Conference canceled the contest because of a positive COVID-19 test from a member of Coastal Carolina, which resulted in an entire position group being forced to quarantine in order to follow protocol.“We are very disappointed that the championship game cannot be played, but we are so proud of all of the players and staff members and their hard work during this truly challenging season," said Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill. EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Crews are working to clear the scene of a semi truck fire that shut down a portion of Interstate 8 early Sunday morning.The semi truck caught on fire about 5 a.m. along westbound I-8 between 2nd Street and Mollison Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol.Responding fire crews said that 40 ft trailer was completely engulfed in flames. The fire blocked the far right lane for a couple of hours.A sig alert was issued about 7:45 am for the 2nd Street on ramp to westbound I-8.Crews remain on the scene working to clear the area of debris.The Sig-alert remained in effect as of 10:45 a.m., and motorists are asked to proceed through the area with caution or use alternate routes. 717
