SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – As hospitals across San Diego prepare to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to front line workers, questions have been raised about whether receiving the vaccine will be mandated for healthcare employees.“We will not make the vaccine mandatory. We do not make the normal flu vaccine mandatory. We do, however, require our staff to continue to wear masks throughout the entire flu season if they chose to not get the flu vaccine,” Palomar Health CEO Diane Hansen told ABC10 News. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - County health officials are encouraging local women to get vaccinated for "whooping cough" amid a possible epidemic.The county says pertussis, commonly known as "whooping cough," could turn into a possible local epidemic based on historical patterns."It’s critical for pregnant women and people who come into close contact with young infants to get vaccinated," Wilma Wooten, County public health officer, said. "Newborns are very susceptible to whooping cough because they are too young to be fully vaccinated. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Authorities have identified the pilot killed in a plane crash in the Kearny Mesa area Wednesday morning as 61-year-old Dr. John Serocki. According to authorities, just after 6:30 a.m., a Cirrus SR22T crashed nose-first in a construction site in the 4400 block of Ruffin Road, blocks away from Montgomery Field.San Diego Fire-Rescue Department officials confirmed Serocki, who was the plane's lone occupant, died in the crash.
