CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities have identified the law enforcement officers involved in a deadly South Bay shooting in early October.Authorities say Sgt. John Holm, and officers Pakko Mendez, Javier Mendoza, and Lauren Chi with the California Highway Patrol were all involved.Sgt. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A heartbroken South Bay woman is making a desperate plea after three of her Maltese dogs disappeared in the past three weeks, and the clues point to a thief. These days, Yolanda Brown doesn't let Zubian, a year-and-a-half old Maltese, stray too far. Just three weeks ago, he was the youngest in a happy Maltese family of four. Now he's the only one left."Cried for days. It hurts. It hurts a lot," said Brown.The first tears came early this month. Brown rents a home on Del Mar Avenue and her four dogs were required to stay in her fenced backyard. One morning, 2-year-old Zoey vanished. "Checked all the gates and they were shut. Thought it may have been a predator," said Brown. A week later, Zoey's mom, 5-year-old Zivah, disappeared from the same yard."Just distraught, wondering what could have happened to them," said Brown.About 10 days later, Brown decided to keep Zubian and his 5-year-old dad Zeus tied up as a precaution. "One morning, as I came out, Zeus was gone and so was the leash. Zubian standing there by himself," said Brown.For Brown, it was too much to bear. Nearby, she found her fence damaged. A chair - moved from the pool area - was now propped up against the fence. She realized a thief had grabbed all of her dogs."Very cold-hearted people that would so something like that," said Brown.If sold, the stolen dogs could fetch several thousand dollars each. "They are priceless to me. They are members of my family," said Brown.Brown fixed up the fence and moved the chair back. When she walked us to that fence to show 10news cameras, she discovered the fence once again damaged. The chair had been moved back to the fence. "Someone was trying to come back and take my last dog. I'm scared," said Brown.Brown says Zubian has been moved to a safe place. (CNS) - An inmate was hospitalized with severe injuries after being found unresponsive in his cell at the South Bay Detention Facility in Chula Vista, authorities said Thursday.Around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, deputies assigned to South Bay Detention Facility, 500 Third Ave., found the man inside his cell "with obvious signs of trauma," San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.The man, whose age and name were not immediately available, was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, Seiver said, adding that the victim was not expected to survive.The Sheriff's homicide unit responded and were investigating the circumstances leading up to the man's injuries. 716

(KGTV) -- The mother of a South Bay teen says her 16-year-old son had a disturbing encounter at a store parking lot in Eastlake.Suher Haidar said a man offered her son money for a sexual act as her son was leaving the Walmart on Eastlake Parkway on Monday."It's just gross," Haidar said. "That's the only way I can explain it."She said her son was walking to his car in the store parking lot when a man in a pickup truck waved him down to get his attention. He was trying to make small talk when the conversation shifted to the disturbing proposition. That's when her son pulled out his phone and recorded the encounter. The man drove away after her son began yelling at him and recording him."My son was just disgusted, and he did what he had to do," Haidar said. "His father and I are really proud of him for standing up for himself and being quick to pull out his phone."She posted her son's video on social media, and several people have commented to say the same person tried to start a conversation with their teenage sons.The Chula Vista Police Department says they are investigating the incident.
