SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An El Cajon woman watched in disbelief Sunday night as her Amazon package was stolen by the very people who delivered it. Cheryl Cook broke her ankle over the weekend and ordered a large ice pack off Amazon. She chose same-day delivery so that she could start icing her ankle as soon as possible.Cook was able to track the driver’s location and could see when he had arrived at her home. She says the delivery started off strangely when the driver put the package on the front lawn rather than the porch. He then got back in the car, put his flashers on, and drove a few feet up the street. Moments later, a second person got out of the car and stole the package. “I’m injured, I’m home, I can’t get out my own front door, and then my package is stolen by the guy who dropped it off,” said Cook. She shared the video online and heard similar stories. “I wanted people to know what was going on, there might be other people that have lost packages and wondered where they went, and this was very clear-cut; it went right back in the guy’s car.”In a statement to 10News, Amazon said:“This does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery partners. This individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages, and we have reached out to the customer to make things right.”A spokesperson went on to tell 10News that their Amazon Flex delivery partners are thoroughly vetted through a comprehensive, multi-state criminal background check and a review of their motor vehicle records. They say the person who stole Cook’s package passed their background check and delivered Amazon packages for less than a month. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Team 10 investigation discovered a North County deputy was found deceptive to a question on a polygraph exam before he was employed with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.A transcript from a separate case involving the deputy, which is currently working its way through the federal court system, revealed this new information.According to the transcript from that case, Deputy Kyle Klein denied ever being associated with a white supremacist organization during a polygraph exam. The polygraph exam report indicated he was being deceptive to that question, the court transcript said.Klein is being sued for allegedly using excessive force against a North County man.The lawsuit filed by Thomas deLeon III alleges that in December 2016 he was thrown to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked in the area of his head, face, neck and spine."Looked like he got beat up, like a whole bunch of guys punched him in the face," said deLeon's sister Marlene deLeon.Marlene said physical injuries aside, her brother is suffering emotionally. He was not up for an interview for this story, but his sister said wanted to tell his story. She said since his 2016 encounter with deputies he struggles to leave the house."What did he do to deserve that?” she still questions. "Why did he get beat up? Why did that happen?”According to court documents, deLeon was on his bike when deputies stopped him.“Thomas slowly retrieved his identification from his wallet and handed it to deputies. At all times, Thomas was standing over his bicycle with it between his legs. He was not moving in any direction. Then, suddenly and without warning, Thomas was violently slammed to the ground, his head hitting the asphalt/concrete,” his suit states.A bystander at a nearby fast-food restaurant captured the incident on camera, but the video doesn’t begin until deLeon is already on the ground."He produced his identification, a brief conversation took place and the next thing was he was thrown to the ground,” said deLeon family attorney Brian Cline.Cline said deputies claim at some point Thomas deLeon resisted arrest and that’s why things got aggressive.DeLeon's lawsuit filed against the county, the sheriff and arresting deputies and others claims once on the ground Thomas deLeon was handcuffed, offered no resistance, and then violently beaten."If you've ever seen a professional fight at the point where they stop the fight because it’s gotten too violent, this is where it started and then they continued,” Cline said.The Sheriff's Department wouldn’t discuss the case with Team 10 saying the department can’t comment. Officials also declined a request for an on-camera interview.The county did, however, file a court document asking for the case to be dismissed. 2793

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after authorities say she was bitten by a rattlesnake near the Torrey Pines Gliderport.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the 33-year-old was hiking nearby trails when she was bitten.The woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Valencia Park dog owner is looking for the person that took his dog from his front yard Tuesday morning. Jayden Ryan’s five-month-old french bulldog, Greyson, was last seen playing in their driveway. His security camera shows Greyson walking over to the fence, but then the camera jumps to footage of a man wearing a hood walking away, and he appeared to be carrying the dog in his arms. Ryan says there were about three to four minutes of missing footage, that might have shown the man’s face, as well as how he ended up with his dog. He says the camera company told him there was an issue on the way the video uploaded. However, a neighbor saw the incident. He told Ryan, as well as 10News, that he saw the hooded man reach over the fence, pet the dog for about a minute, then grab him and walk away. The security footage picked up audio of the neighbor yelling at the hooded stranger and then chasing after him. “(My neighbor) says he tried to run after him, but he is 54 years old. He was no match for him, so he ended up getting away,” Ryan said. Neighbors said they recently saw the man in the neighborhood. Ryan says French bulldogs are expensive so they can be enticing to thieves. He would be surprised if he were casing the neighborhood. Ryan is putting up fliers, hoping someone will have information about Greyson, or the man in the video. “They didn’t just steal my dog, they stole the happiness from me,” Ryan said. San Diego Police say no suspects have been identified at this time and no arrests have been made. 1561

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An Amazon delivery driver was caught on video tossing a package onto a driveway like it was a newspaper, and the customer is not happy about it. “I order books. I’ve ordered Echos. I’ve ordered cameras on Amazon,” Del Cerro resident Yung Jun Kim said. He was worried someone might, one day, steal a package.“I ordered the ring camera to monitor the delivery,” Kim said “The first time the Amazon delivery happened on-camera, the driver drove into the driveway, didn’t even get out of his car, rolled down his window and threw my package onto the driveway."Kim found the package on the porch when he got home. What happened was also caught on video.“It was really great, because my mailman came by about 15 minutes later and he picked it up from the driveway and left it on my doorstep,” Kim said.Kim thinks the Amazon deliver driver threw his neighbor's package as well.“The video showed him pulling into her driveway for about 10 seconds and pulling back out. So, in that time, I don’t think he got out of a car and went into her courtyard and delivered it that way," Kim said. "He probably just threw it on the driveway."This time, Kim’s package was not fragile - but the driver didn't know that. Kim emailed Amazon and complained.“Customer service responded that same day, and they gave me a long apology and said they were going to look into it, which, I don’t know if they did," he said. "They also gave me a credit for my troubles."Kim says he hopes Amazon will get better drivers, because based on the video - they've got at least one with a negative attitude. "It takes very little effort to get out of the car to make a delivery onto a porch," Kim said. 10News reached out to Amazon.
