WOODLAND PARK, Colo. — The parents of missing Colorado mom Kelsey Berreth filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her fiancé Patrick Frazee.Attorneys for Darrell and Cheryl-Lee Berreth filed the lawsuit Friday in U.S. District Court in Denver. The suit is seeking an unspecified amount for the Idaho couple’s grief and suffering following the death of their 29-year-old daughter, whose body has yet to be recovered. The lawsuit alleges Berreth was “murdered on or about November 22, 2018, at the direction and/or hand of Frazee in or about Woodland Park, Teller County, state of Colorado.”The couple is also suing for negligence, alleging “Frazee enacted physical, mental, and emotional acts of violence upon Kelsey Berreth prior to her death, Frazee breached the duty of care with which a reasonable person should conduct himself toward another human being.”Frazee was formally charged with murder Monday morning. Authorities allege he tried to find someone to kill Berreth three times between September and November and causing her death on or around Thanksgiving.Berreth was last seen Thanksgiving Day on a grocery store surveillance video with the couple's 1-year-old daughter. Frazee said the two met that day to exchange their child.Authorities believe Berreth was killed at her home in Woodland Park, Colorado. Her cellphone was tracked to Gooding, Idaho, three days after Thanksgiving.ABC News reported earlier this week that a 32-year-old Twin Falls, Idaho, woman was under investigation for possibly disposing of Berreth’s cell phone. During a court appearance Friday, a judge allowed Frazee to receive a copy of the arrest affidavit in his case but ruled that the document, which contains details of what led prosecutors to charge Frazee with murder and solicitation in Berreth’s death, would remain sealed to the public pending a preliminary hearing. 1903
"Saturday Night Live" comedian Pete Davidson mocked the appearance of a congressional candidate whose eye was destroyed while he served in Afghanistan."This guy is kinda cool, Dan Crenshaw," Davidson said on this weekend's show, next to a photo of Crenshaw, a Republican. "You may be surprised to hear he's a congressional candidate from Texas, and not a hit man in a porno movie."I'm sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever," he added. "Whatever."The comment came during an "SNL" segment in which Davidson gave his "First Impressions" of the appearances of several candidates. After mocking Crenshaw, he took aim at Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, "so I look fair," he said. 692
(CNN) - A former Capitol Hill staffer said Rep. Duncan Hunter grabbed her behind at a party in downtown Washington in 2014, adding a new element of impropriety alleged against the embattled California Republican, who is charged with using campaign funds to pay for vacations and to finance extramarital affairs.Rory Riley-Topping, a former subcommittee staff director on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, told CNN in an interview that she was at a bar after an annual dinner held by the National Republican Congressional Committee when Hunter approached her, appearing, she said, to be intoxicated."Duncan Hunter had told me that he wanted to talk to me about Agent Orange, which is an issue the committee was dealing with at the time. I politely said, 'Great. I'll get in touch with your staff.' And he kind of leaned in and said, 'No, I want to talk to you about it,' and had reached over and pulled himself in very close with his hand on my behind," Riley-Topping said.RELATED: Prosecutors: How Rep. Duncan Hunter misused campaign funds"I felt very uncomfortable," Riley-Topping said. "I very awkwardly moved away."Riley-Topping said she then approached Republican Rep. Jon Runyan of New Jersey, a member of the committee she worked on who has since retired, and told him what had happened. "This is gross. This is what happened: Duncan Hunter just grabbed my ass. I don't want to be here anymore," she recalled in the interview.CNN has reached out to Runyan. Two former colleagues of Riley-Topping and her then-fiancé, who is now her husband, told CNN that Riley-Topping had told them about the incident soon after it happened.Hunter was charged in August with wire fraud, falsifying records and campaign finance violations, and, in an indictment, prosecutors described a lavish lifestyle with trips to Italy, private school tuition payments and bar tabs allegedly funded by campaign donations.RELATED: Motion: San Diego Congressman Duncan Hunter spent campaign funds on "desire for intimacyHe agreed last year to step down from his congressional committee assignments, though he later went on to win reelection, defeating his Democratic opponent after a campaign widely criticized for its anti-Muslim themes. In court filings this week prosecutors also described how Hunter used campaign funds to support five separate extramarital affairs -- allegedly paying for ski trips and nights out with five different women, including lobbyists and staffers.Hunter has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and CNN has reached out to his congressional office for comment on the allegation by Riley-Topping.Riley-Topping first shared her story with RT, the cable news network funded by the Russian government, earlier Wednesday after an anchor on the channel who is a personal friend invited her on to talk about the experience, and to provide legal analysis on the Hunter case, Riley-Topping told CNN.Riley-Topping, who is now a consultant specializing in veteran law, said she did not report the incident at the time to her supervisors because it was the kind of behavior that was common on Capitol Hill then."This kind of stuff happens all the time. Even though it was something that felt inappropriate, it also unfortunately didn't seem unusual and I felt I was not physically injured, I wasn't raped," Riley-Topping said.Several lawmakers have recently resigned after the national sexual assault reckoning swept into Congress. In December, Congress passed sexual harassment legislation to oversee the way sexual harassment claims are made and handled on Capitol Hill.Riley-Topping said that she decided to leave her job in Congress because of the alleged incident with Hunter, and she resigned months later. 3716

(AP) - Rocker Ted Nugent says the Florida students calling for gun control have "no soul" and are "mushy brained children."The 69-year-old made the comments Friday while defending the National Rifle Association as a guest on the Joe Pags show, a nationally syndicated conservative radio program.Nugent, a longtime member of the NRA's board of directors, said survivors of the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are wrong to blame the NRA and its members for mass shootings.RELATED: Fox News host Laura Ingraham faces advertiser backlash after mocking Parkland survivor"These poor children, I'm afraid to say, it hurts me to say, but the evidence is irrefutable: They have no soul," Nugent said. He added that the gun control measures the students support amount to "spiritual suicide" and "will cause more death and mayhem."A representative for Nugent did not respond to a request for comment on Saturday. Some Parkland students responded on social media and demanded an apology."If only he saw all the tears. If only he had to look into the eyes I've looked into. If only he saw what this did to all of us," junior Cameron Kasky said on Twitter. "And here the NRA is, receiving more fear-based donations than ever. Talk about 'no soul.' This guy better apologize. Seriously."RELATED: Parkland school shooting: Memorial at Stoneman Douglas High School dismantledSenior Kyra Parrow said it's funny that the NRA rails against bullying while Nugent was "being a 5 year old acting like a bully" to her and her classmates.Nugent made the comments the same day several advertisers dropped Fox News personality Laura Ingraham after she mocked a survivor of the Parkland shooting online.Ingraham said Friday she will take a weeklong "Easter break" with her children while guest hosts fill in on her show, "The Ingraham Angle."She drew backlash Wednesday when she shared an article on Twitter saying student David Hogg had been rejected by four colleges and was whining about it. She later apologized and said Hogg should be proud of his grades. 2075
