Gap has apologized for a map of China on one of its T-shirts that upset internet users in the country.A user on Chinese social network Weibo posted photos of a T-shirt they said was on sale at a Gap store in Canada, complaining that its design left out Taiwan and islands claimed by Beijing in the South China Sea.The US clothing brand is the latest international company to find itself in hot water over Chinese territorial issues.The Chinese government in Beijing considers self-governed Taiwan to be an integral part of its territory and comes down hard on any suggestions to the contrary. China also claims sovereignty over a large swathe of territory in the South China Sea, including areas claimed by other countries like Vietnam and the Philippines.Gap responded to the criticism on Weibo by announcing it had pulled the T-shirts from the Chinese market and destroyed them."Gap Inc. respects China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We've learned that a Gap brand T-shirt sold in some overseas markets failed to reflect the correct map of China in the design," the company said in a statement posted late Monday on Weibo."We sincerely apologize for this unintentional error," it added. "We're currently conducting an internal inspection."The company didn't say whether the product would be withdrawn from sale in other markets.A series of other big Western brands have apologized over missteps on Chinese territorial issues.Chinese authorities in January blocked Marriott's websites and apps for a week after the company listed Tibet, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan as separate countries in emails and apps. GLEN BURNIE, Maryland — Two kennel owners are facing dozens of charges after several dogs were found neglected in their care, and one of them had to be put down. On March 20, Anne Arundel County Police say they got a complaint about Olympian Kennels, a company that was supposed to be training and caring for dogs. Some of the dog owners were concerned after they could not reach the kennel's owners, Rebecca Wolfe or Cameron Whitaker-Nelson. In addition to not being able to reach the owners, there were concerns raised after Wolfe posted a message on social media saying Animal Control had taken all of the animals in her care and custody, but Animal Control had not done that.After an investigation, police found six dogs in the basement of Wolfe and Whitaker-Nelson's home on Shade Drive in Glen Burnie. Two of the dogs were severely weak and sick. The basement where the dogs were kept smelled of ammonia and fecal matter. One of the two sick dogs was having trouble breathing and had to be put down shortly after going to the animal hospital. The five other dogs were returned to their owners following a checkup from a veterinarian. The adventures of Maizie Rai with her human best friend Fiona Dawson are well documented on social media, their story is now intertwined with this house.“I had to sit there and watch them take dogs out of their house but not my dog," said Dawson."  I don’t know where she is I don’t know where her body is I don’t know anything.”Dawson's story lines up with numerous other's who have reached out about neglect at this home.The couple used to work for Jessica breeding at Premier Dog Training and Boarding.Wolfe worked the front desk and Whitaker-Nelson was a trainer, Breeding said she trusted them initially.Putting dogs into trainers homes to acclimate is how most dogs complete their training.Breeding got suspicious when a service dog in training named King died in the couples care and the couple refused to get a necropsy done. "After two weeks we were asking her for the results she wouldn't’t give them to us,” said Breeding.  “I ended up calling the vet and they said no necropsy was ever done. It was a battle to try to get the body from the vet for me to actually get a necropsy done. We found out that the dog had passed because of negligent circumstances.”Around that time Dawson started to get worried about Maizie Rai.ABC2 got emails that show an agreement with the couple Dawson met through Premier Dog Training.Dawson had to travel a lot for much for work, so the couple would take in Maizie Dawson would pay for her food, medicine, and give the couple 0 a month.Wolfe and Nelson would take care of Maizie long term and Dawson could set up visits.“I picked her up and she seemed to be doing great,” said Dawson. “She was socializing with other dogs which was quite unusual for her because she had such anxiety when she was with me. I really kind of felt like she was having a better life with them then she was with me."That was the last time Watson saw Maizie Rai.She said for two months the pictures were replaced by excuses and then nothing.“Throughout all this time never in my mind did I think that she wouldn’t be alive,” Dawson said. Dawson and Breeding went to the house to figure out what was going on, no one answered.Anne Arundel County Police and Animal Control joined them,that's when the couple finally came out of the house. “I say "Hi Cameron here for Maizie Rai". In front of the police and animal control.  Cameron looks me in the eye and says "Fiona we texted you a couple of months ago not sure if you got it or not but Maizie Rai died". I just lost it, and screamed and cried almost hyperventilated.  We then sat back and watched animal control take dogs out of their house.”Dawson has no idea where Maizie Rai's body is.This is also not the first time there have been complaints against the two kennel owners. General Electric is under such financial stress that new CEO Larry Culp is slashing the troubled conglomerate's 119-year-old dividend to just a penny a share.GE revealed on Tuesday worse-than-expected results and a billion accounting writedown for its beleaguered power division. Culp plans to split up the power division to accelerate a turnaround.The company also announced that the SEC and Justice Department are investigating the charge, which reflects the deterioration of businesses GE has acquired. The news adds to GE's mounting legal problems and helped send the stock to a nine-year low in volatile trading.In a bid to fix GE's debt-riddled balance sheet, Culp announced the company will cut its quarterly dividend from 12 cents a share starting in 2019. By paying just a token dividend, GE (GE) will save about .9 billion of cash per year.Analysts had been anticipating a potential dividend cut, though not one of this magnitude.It's an especially painful move for a company that long viewed its stable dividend as a source of pride. But years of bad decisions forced GE to halve its dividend last November for just the second time since the Great Depression. The dividend cuts deal a blow to the many GE retirees and mom-and-pop shareholders who long relied on the cherished payouts."We are on the right path to create a more focused portfolio and strengthen our balance sheet," Culp said in a statement.Culp, who was suddenly named CEO on October 1, acknowledged during a conference call "this is not a quarter that we're particularly proud of." 1572

From millennials to baby boomers, almost everyone is affected by the opioid epidemic.While the issue touches so many people, a study done by Stericycle shows that Americans aren't as educated as they could be when it comes to disposing their leftover opioids. The study indicates that leftover opioids are proving to be a large source of this national epidemic. Sharing opioids: The study digs into people's habits when they are prescribed medications and how they usually dispose of them. It found that 74 percent of people think sharing and selling unused prescriptions is contributing to the growth of the epidemic. While a majority of Americans feel this way, the study also found that Millennials are 68 percent less likely than Baby Boomers to agree that sharing or selling their unused prescriptions is a contributing factor. Millennials also aren't concerned about sharing their leftover opioids. Compared to Baby Boomers, Millenials are more than twice as likely to share their unused prescriptions with a family member, and 33 percent more likely to have used an opioid recreationally in the last six months.Holding onto the medication:While most Americans think sharing is contributing to the problem, 30 percent admitted to keeping leftover prescriptions for future use out of a fear of an illness returning.  Collection of opioids: The study reveals that 15 percent of these people hanging onto their medication are doing so because they don't know how to dispose of them. 68 percent of people agree that having access to safe and secure disposal methods would help the epidemic, but 83 percent admit they have never participated in these available programs. While the need for programs like this is evident, the study shows that tackling a problem like this it isn't so simple.  1910

Hawaii residents breathed a sigh of relief as Hurricane Lane disintegrated into a tropical storm, but authorities warned that its thrashing winds and relentless rain will remain a threat into the weekend.Lane dumped more than 40 inches of rain in some parts of the Big Island over several days, sending residents fleeing life-threatening flash flooding and landslides.It weakened to a tropical storm Friday, a major downgrade for what was a Category 3 hurricane just a day earlier.Weakening is forecast through the weekend, with Lane expected to become "a remnant low" by late Saturday or Sunday, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center said. 647
