SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A City pool is now drained and shut down after vandals threw glass into it.Parents who bring their kids to the Allied Gardens pool for swim lessons were notified on Monday of the closure. "Honestly my reaction, I just kind of sat there dumbfounded, they called and said the classes were canceled, me being curious I asked why, they said vandalism. I said you have to be kidding. This is my neighborhood!" said Marie Veenstra, a mom of three.She says two of her children attend lessons at the pool on Glenroy Street four days a week. "It is super frustrating, not only as a mom who can't bring her kids to the pool, but thinking about the environment," said Veenstra.The City says broken shards of glass can be impossible to see or retrieve without draining the pool. Broken glass found in and around the pool results in having to drain the pool completely, conduct a thorough cleaning of the pool bottom to retrieve remaining pieces of glass, refill the pool with water and necessary chemicals to ensure the pool is safe and then reopen the facility.The City's safety protocol is consistent with the Model Aquatic Health Code. Draining and refilling the more than 320,000-gallon pool will cost the City roughly ,000 when factoring in personnel. "We love our pool though, we wish this didn't happen, but we'll come back."City officials say a police report has been filed, but there are no leads as to who threw glass in the pool. 1458

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 56-year-old reportedly stabbed his neighbor after the man tried to shoot him with what he believed to be a rifle late Friday night, police say.According to police, the incident happened on the 4400 block of Bermuda Avenue around 10:30 p.m. after a 56-year-old walked to his neighbor’s house to tell him there was water flowing into his yard.When the neighbor, a 50-year-old man, answered the door he was armed with what appeared to be a rifle but later turned out to be a BB gun. As the man shot the gun, his neighbor was able to bush the barrel of the weapon up to avoid being shot.As the man tried to reload, his neighbor pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed his neighbor several times “because he thought he was going to get shot,” police said.Both men returned to their homes and called police. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It’s unclear if any arrests will be made in the case. 965

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Celebrity Cruise Line ship docked at the Port of San Diego Monday, pulling into the Embarcadero just before sunrise. More than 1,500 passengers were on board the "Eclipse," including Mali Lev-Ram and her husband. The couple started the cruise on March 1 in Buenos Aires. They were supposed to get off in Chile March 15, but the cruise was turned away because of concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. I instantly broke into tears," said Wysocki.Along Congress Street, Wysocki found a side window of her Lexus on the ground, smashed."Then I came upon the other broken window, which was also a shock and quite a bummer," said Wysocki.Inside her car, about 30 bucks in emergency cash was missing, along with some ibuprofen. Her windows are tinted, but if someone peered inside, some boxes filled with paper products can been seen. Wysocki believes those boxes made her car a target. Wysocki is hardly alone. The agency tweeted out several photos Monday morning that show the agent with a large cut on his face and what appears to be shattered glass in the patrol car. “Our agents face dangers like this one while maintaining the security of our nation,” the agency said.
