SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A father is speaking out after being stuck on a SeaWorld ride for several hours in the cold Monday night. In video from the incident, 15-year-old Jordan Sherr can be heard shivering in the cold as temperatures plummeted into the low 40s. Jordan and his dad Jonathan were in a gondola on the Bayside Skyride when, two minutes into the ride, a huge gust of wind blew into the bay. “40-50 miles per-hour, blowing us around, looked up and saw the cables going spastic. Wondering what was going when it snapped shut, shaking us at a 45-degree angle back and forth,” said Jonathan Sherr. We said a few prayer, told each other we loved each other, then we decided to come up with a game plan, assessed height of water and decided it was a no go,” Sherr said. Their fears weren’t realized and, eventually, the gondola stabilized and they began to record cellphone video. “We're like a hundred feet up, over shallow water yea,” Sherr said. Over the next five hours, Sherr says they heard messages from staff at SeaWorld over a loudspeaker before firefighters came to the rescue. Jonathan, who has suffered a stroke, says he stiffens up in the cold. He was able to cover up with a blanket located in the gondola. After five hours, it was their turn to be rescued. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A heartbroken local woman says her brother was killed in a Phoenix park while trying to 'protect his friends.'"He was infamous for making people laugh. He had a heart bigger than his being," said Amy Clark, Isaac Clark's sister. Last month, Isaac Clark, 23, moved from San Diego to Phoenix to be closer to his 4-year-old son. He had a job lined up doing event setup. Last Wednesday, Clark found himself in a park around 1 a.m. His sister Amy says he was checking on two friends, who had been evicted and were living in a car.Police say he heard a vehicle being vandalized, and headed toward the sound before realizing it was his friends' car. That is when the suspects approached Clark, sparking a fight. Clark was stabbed multiple times. He would die at the hospital."I feel like he died a hero. He tried to do the right thing. He was trying to protect his friends," said a tearful Amy Clark.Three people were arrested. Police say Maurice James, 24, and Eldon Sandoval, 18 are facing second-degree murder charges. A third person, Chantel Ben, 21, faces hindering prosecution chargers."They took my one-and-only sibling. They took my one-and-only baby brother from me," she said.An emotional vigil was held at that park a night after the incident. Clark's sister is haunted by their conversation about the violence in the world right before he left San Diego. "We were saying we just need to be more kind, more empathetic," she said.A grieving sister says that kindness was nowhere to be found In that park, early that morning."We need to get justice because he now has a 4-year-old son who has to live without him," she said.A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help with funeral expenses and to set up a fund for his son. 1753

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A couple of thieves hosted an unintentional comedy act after surveillance cameras captured them making a huge mess inside a Normal Heights salon. Salon Bordeaux is reaching a big milestone."We are getting ready to celebrate our 14th anniversary here on Adams Avenue," salon co-owner, Laura Price said. But Price in not quite ready to celebrate. "Somebody threw a rock through a window and climbed through," Price said. Just before 2:30 a.m. Friday, their surveillance cameras caught two people attempting a smash-and-grab at the salon. One of the men threw a rock through the side window and climbed through. The two headed straight to the counter. They pried open the cash drawer with a crowbar and took off. But not before one of them tripped over and broke the side table. He then realized he forgot his crowbar, so he climbed back in to get it, and hurried off.But Price said the joke's on them. "Fortunately, we do not keep any cash in the salon overnight, so they didn't get much, except for hopefully some injury from the glass," Price joked. This isn't their first break-in. Almost four years ago to the day, Salon Bordeaux was one of 15 small businesses in Normal Heights to be a victim of burglary. Back then, criminals got away with ,000, their client appointment book, and computer."We learned a lot from the first incident, and this time we were ready," Price said. Since then, they installed multiple security cameras. They never leave cash overnight and instilled new safety practices. So this time, the clumsy thieves made off with nothing. "We just want to spread the word and make sure that other businesses are as prepared as we were this time. It could've been a lot worse. None of the staff was hurt, and really, all we have to do is deal with the glass and replacing it," Price said. San Diego Police has not made any arrests at this time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A handful of parents attended a meeting with San Diego Unified School District officials, after lead was found in drinking water at Garfield Elementary.Parents were notified of the discovery last week when the school made calls and sent letters.“It seems like the infrastructure is kind of old and replacing that stuff seems to get longer and further down on the back of the list,” said parent Jared Stodelle.Tuesday, a doctor and an SDUSD representative answered parents questions at the elementary school. They broke down the water sampling reports and gave parents tips and advice about lead exposure.52 water fixtures on campus were tested. Three were above the district action level of 5 parts per billion (ppb), while one was above the federal action level of 15 ppb. According to the district, the fixture above the federal action level tested at 17.28 ppb, but had been out of service for an entire year. They say no students had any access to that specific fountain.“Now that it's been brought up to me, I'm going to look into it a little more and that's why I was trying to understand what the levels were and what they actually meant,” said parent James Smith after attending the informational meeting.As soon as the results came back, the fountains were secured and taped off, parents were notified, and an informational parent meeting was scheduled.According to SDUSD Facilities Communications Supervisor, Samer Naji, the district now has three options on what to do next: either repair or uninstall the fixture completely, put in a lead certified water filter, or install new plumbing.In the meantime, children will be given bottled water.Parents who spoke to 10News say they were happy with the way the school and district notified them and took immediate action.“We give them credit because if you see a problem, you take care of it,” said Stodelle. “You don't want to hide it from anybody especially the students and parents.”At the meeting, the doctor told parents concerned about the potential lead exposure to schedule an appointment with their child’s physician to request a blood screening for lead. SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) -- For the second straight day, San Diego County has recorded over 400 new COVID-19 cases, health officials announced Saturday.The county is reporting 436 new cases Saturday, bringing the total to 12,837.Officials also reported only six communities outbreaks were identified in the past week which falls beneath the county's community outbreak trigger of seven in seven days.The number of recoveries reached 8,954, while the number of deaths increased by two raising the total to 360 for San Diego County.The deaths reported Saturday were of a woman and a man who died June 25 and their ages were in the early 70s and 80s, officials said. The man who died did not have underlying health conditions.Saturday marked the sixth time in seven days that health authorities reported more than 300 new COVID-19 cases.
