MORROW, Ohio -- Two teen football players could face punishment for actions they took during a game last week, on Friday, September 11. The two players ran onto the field, one carrying a "Thin Blue Line" flag, the other carrying a "Thin Red Line" flag. The school initially suspended the two boys from the Little Miami High School football team, but announced on Tuesday they would "return the players to active status" and that any further action relating to the matter would be considered an Athletic Department Code of Conduct issue. The school issued a statement Tuesday that said the district decided to discipline the boys, not for carrying the flags out to show support for first responders on the anniversary of 9/11, but because they didn't obtain permission from district officials first."School administrators must act when students break the rules and these students were suspended from practice while the incident was investigated," the statement, signed by school board president Bobbie Grice, reads. The statement says the superintendent and high school administrators, with the school board's support, performed an investigation into the incident and determined the students had no political motivations for their actions. They did determine "there were instances of insubordination."For the rest of the season, the statement said, the only flags permitted to come through the football tunnel will be the flag of the United States of America and the Little Miami spirit flag. This story originally reported by Felicia Jordan on wcpo.com. 1558

NASA has long been able to check out Mars on the ground with rovers and landers and from far above with orbital spacecraft. Now, it wants to prove that it can sustainably fly around the planet's thin atmosphere at low altitude -- with a tiny helicopter.NASA announced Friday it will send the Mars Helicopter to the Red Planet with the previously announced Mars 2020 rover, set to launch in two years from Florida. The hope is that aircraft like this one -- flying mechanical scouts -- will eventually give scientists another vantage point from which to observe Mars. The helicopter will be mankind's first attempt to fly a heavier-than-air craft -- think helicopter or airplane -- in an atmosphere other than Earth's, the space agency said. Its mission will be to take five test flights after it lands with the rover in February 2021. 839

Musicians Post Malone and Andrew Watt were both on board a Gulfstream airplane that successfully made an emergency landing after experiencing issues during takeoff, according to a source with knowledge of the flight. The Gulfstream IV jet took off from New Jersey's Teterboro Airport and was originally bound for the United Kingdom, but the plane was diverted to New York's Stewart International Airport after it blew two tires upon takeoff, the Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday.Gulfstream IV jets can carry more than 12 passengers and are typically used for business and private flights.Earlier, the FAA had said the flight was being diverted to an airport in Massachusetts."i landed guys. thank you for your prayers. can't believe how many people wished death on me on this website. f*** you. but not today," Post Malone tweeted Tuesday afternoon.Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Post, is a 23-year-old rapper and singer who rose to fame following his 2015 single "White Iverson." Andrew Watt is a musician and guitarist who has worked with Malone, including in their song "Burning Man."On Monday night, Post Malone attended the MTV Video Music Awards at New York's Radio City Music Hall, where he and 21 Savage performed their hit "rockstar" before being joined on stage by Aerosmith. Malone also took home song of the year honors for the track."Honestly, in a hundred-million years I would never, you know, expect to do this, ever," he said, accepting his award. "This is sick. Thank you so much, guys."Post Malone's second album, "Beerbongs & Bentleys" was released in April.The-CNN-Wire 1621

MSAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced Monday that the city has repaired 655 miles of roads so far, which is ahead of schedule to meet the goal of 1,000 miles of roads by 2020.Averaging more than 300 miles per year puts the city ahead of schedule, even as a small percentage of repairs has required taking the roads down to the dirt.RELATED: San Diego County approves million road resurfacing project“The unprecedented investment we’ve made in road repair is showing results with more smooth streets in our neighborhoods,” Mayor Faulconer said. “There’s still a lot more work that needs to be done, but we’re making significant progress on an issue that is a top concern for so many residents.”Within the first two fiscal years of the pledge, the city fixed 595 miles of roads. Last year, an assessment showed the overall condition of city streets rose to 72 on a scale of zero to 100.RELATED: Mayor vows to fix more roads in San DiegoMayor Faulconer says if they do complete the work ahead of schedule they will assess additional roads and keep going.Click here to report potholes and road issues. Moderna announced Thursday they have started giving teenagers their COVID-19 vaccine as part of their study on how the vaccine works in those under 18.Pfizer, the other vaccine maker with an emergency use request for their COVID-19 vaccine in adults before the FDA, started including teens in their trial in October. In the Moderna’s press release, they say the Phase 2/3 study of the mRNA vaccine is now underway and is being conducted on children between the ages of 12 and 18.“We are pleased to begin this Phase 2/3 study of mRNA-1273 in healthy adolescents in the U.S. Our goal is to generate data in the spring of 2021 that will support the use of mRNA-1273 in adolescents in advance of the 2021 school year,” said Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of Moderna in a company statement. “We hope we will be able to provide a safe vaccine to provide protection to adolescents so they can return to school in a normal setting.”The Phase 2/3 study from Moderna is being done to test the safety and immunogenicity of the two-dose vaccine they submitted to the FDA for emergency use approval last month. They plan to enroll about 3,000 teenagers in the U.S. in the trial, with each receiving either a placebo or the vaccine in two doses, 28 days apart. 1262
