MOSCOW, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday that he is looking forward to meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao next month during the Chinese leader's trip to Russia.     Medvedev, who met with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo on Friday, said he and Hu will exchange views on major international and regional issues of common concern during their June meeting. BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Thursday met with President of the Socialist International(SI) George Papandreou on promoting the world's sustainable development.     Papandreou was leading a 15-member delegation to Beijing for a sustainable growth seminar co-sponsored by the Communist Party of China(CPC) and the SI.     Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, reviewed the increasing exchanges since the CPC and the SI started their exchanges in 1982.     "Jointly holding a seminar on sustainable growth signifies a positive step for both sides to deepen strategic dialogue," Li said.     The seminar, scheduled for Friday, will address how to work together to deal with climate change and other environmental challenges.     Li briefed Papandreou on the country's efforts to tackle the international financial crisis and seek sustainable development.     Li said the CPC valued the ties with the SI and its member parties and called for increased cooperation and deeper dialogue.     Papandreou said the Socialist International would like to seek more dialogue and cooperation with the CPC to promote sustainable development worldwide. BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met with visiting chairman of the U.S. Economic Recovery Advisory Board Paul Volcker here Wednesday when they saw eye-to-eye on stepping up dialogue and cooperation.     During the meeting, they agreed to make concerted efforts to develop the Sino-American "positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship for the 21st century", which Chinese President Hu Jintao and his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama agreed to build during their meeting in London in April. SHANGHAI, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Standard Chartered Bank (China) Limited announced Wednesday that it plans to issue 3.5 billion yuan (512 million U.S.dollars) financial bonds in China, the first foreign bank to issue Renminbi bonds in the Chinese mainland.     The announcement was made in the wake of a circular released by the State Council in April on building Shanghai into an international financial center and shipping hub.     The municipal government of Shanghai convened a working meeting late last month on preparation for the financial center goal, promising to support foreign banks to issue yuan-denominated bonds.     "As China's financial market continues to liberalize, Standard Chartered is seeing a number of opportunities for our business," said Peter Sands, Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank, during his visit to Beijing this week.     The issuance is expected to help elevate the Renminbi's status as an international reserve currency, develop local capital markets, and contribute towards Shanghai's development as a global financial center, said Sands.     Standard Chartered Group reported 26 percent income growth in 2008, or 13.97 billion U.S. dollars despite the difficult global economic environment.     In China, the bank has grown by an average annual compounded growth rate of 80 percent over the past four years.     Standard Chartered Bank is China's oldest foreign bank enjoying150 years of history. It is among the first batch of locally-incorporated foreign banks and has one of the largest foreign bank networks operating in China.
