The Erie County Sheriff's Office in Ohio have arrested a man accused of escaping a police cruiser after allegedly having sex in a hot tub. According to a police report, deputies responded to Kalahari Resorts around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday after a lifeguard reportedly caught a man and woman allegedly having intercourse in a hot tub.Security told deputies Kamden Mack, 25, became "irate" after being confronted by the lifeguard. Mack told deputies he did not know why security was evicting him, then swore at security officers, according to a report. Mack and the woman, Taylor Coats, 22, denied the accusations. Mack and Coats were told by deputies to gather their belongings and leave the property, according to the report. Sheriff's deputies left the pair with security and were getting to ready leave when they were informed that Mack and Coats tried running from security officers. Security officers captured Mack and held him on the ground when deputies arrived, according to the report. Deputies had to pull Mack into the back of a cruiser after he allegedly refused to go inside. After Mack was in the cruiser, one deputy attempted to locate Coats, while the other stayed with Mack. At this time, Mack was able to open the passenger door and started running toward the convention center, according to the report. Deputies eventually caught up to Mack and tackled him to the ground. He was then placed inside of a patrol vehicle with a working safety lock. Deputies arrested Coats after security found her in her hotel room. Mack was charged with felony escape, misdemeanor persistent disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. Coats was charged with misdemeanor persistent disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. 1734

The House failed to override President Donald Trump's veto after both chambers of Congress sought to overturn his national emergency declaration to build more border wall. The vote was 248-181, with 14 Republicans voting with Democrats to support the override. It was a steep hill to climb for opponents of Trump's national emergency as the House would have needed two-thirds of its members to back the veto override. Thirteen Republicans voted for the resolution in the first place. Both chambers of Congress passed a resolution to overturn Trump's national emergency declaration to fund more border wall, which would use billions from the Treasury and Defense departments after Congress rejected giving Trump the full amount of border wall money he requested for the year. The decision sparked criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike, many of whom argued the national emergency action would violate the Constitution. The House easily passed the resolution of disapproval in February. A few weeks later, 12 Senate Republicans joined with Senate Democrats to pass it, marking a sharp rebuke from members of the President's own party on a key issue to his base. The President vetoed the bill one day after it cleared the Senate."Congress has the freedom to pass this resolution and I have the duty to veto it," Trump said from the Oval Office before officially sending the measure back to Congress without his approval.House Democrats, meanwhile, were quick to announce they would hold an override vote on March 26. "The House and Senate resoundingly rejected the President's lawless power grab, yet the President has chosen to continue to defy the Constitution, the Congress and the will of the American people," Pelosi said in a statement at the time. But the House faced a high hurdle, needing a two-thirds majority -- rather than a simple majority -- to override the veto. The House first passed the bill 245-182.House Democratic leaders were under no illusion that the veto override would pass. Speaker Nancy Pelosi said last week that the point of the vote is to make it clear the new Democratic-controlled House won't tolerate the President's persistence for a border wall."Whether we can succeed with the number of votes is not the point," Pelosi said at an event in New York. "We are establishing the intent of Congress."Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said earlier this month that the National Emergency Act allows for a resolution of disapproval to come up every six months, and Democrats intend to bring it up again then. 2550

The House Oversight Committee voted on Wednesday to hold Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt of Congress over a dispute related to the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census. The vote was 24-15.The Democratic-led committee voted on a contempt resolution that recommends that the House of Representatives find Barr and Ross in contempt of Congress "for refusal to comply with subpoenas." The contempt resolution includes citations for both civil and criminal contempt. It's unclear what will happen now that the committee has voted on the resolution. Depending on how the Departments of Justice or Commerce respond, House Democrats could go to the floor with both criminal and civil contempt. They could also drop criminal before going to the floor if some accommodation happens.According to a committee aide, a criminal contempt vote would have to go through the floor. However, civil contempt could go through the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group, which is made up of the three highest-ranked House Democrats and two highest-ranked House Republicans.Earlier on Wednesday, the Department of Justice informed the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday that President Donald Trump has asserted executive privilege over materials related to the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census. In a letter to Committee Chair Elijah Cummings, Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd 1450

The CDC has issued new guidance to nursing homes nationwide on Friday. The guidance calls for all nursing home visits to be prohibited, except in end-of-life situations. The guidance, which goes into effect immediately, comes as spread of the coronavirus grows nationally, and is particularly dangerous for the elderly and disabled. The CDC issued guidelines covering the following:Restrict all visitation except for end of life situations.Restrict all volunteers and non-essential healthcare personnel (HCP), including non-essential healthcare personnel (e.g., barbers)Cancel all group activities and communal diningImplement active screening of residents and HCP for fever and respiratory symptoms"Because of the ease of spread in a long-term care setting and the severity of illness that occurs in residents with COVID-19, facilities should immediately restrict all visitation to their facilities except for end-of-life situations," the CDC's guidelines say. The CDC recommended that nursing homes set up alternative ways for families to communicate with loved ones in nursing homes, including video conferencing. 1129
