SAN DIEGO (CNS) — Two men who were allegedly running an illegal hash oil lab inside a Lemon Grove warehouse were charged by federal prosecutors Friday.Adam Ledesma and Jared Hoffman are charged with manufacturing around 166 kilograms of hash oil inside the building raided by Drug Enforcement Administration agents on Thursday. The hash oil, valued at more than .75 million, was seized along with ``sophisticated laboratory equipment'' valued at more than million, according to the DEA.In the criminal complaint filed Friday, DEA Special Agent James Gillis wrote that DEA agents regularly surveilled the building over the past month, and observed Ledesma and Hoffman regularly entering the building. There were ``no visible indications of commercial or manufacturing operations operating out of the building,'' according to Gillis, who said that on May 14, he found a number of paint buckets, stainless steel pots and other items he alleged were consistent with manufacturing cannabis inside two dumpsters in the building's loading dock. The building's electricity bills dating back to last May were also ``excessive and consistent with the amount of electricity required to operate equipment commonly used for concentrated cannabis extraction and/or indoor marijuana cultivation.''Search warrants were served Thursday for the premises, which has no license for marijuana cultivation from either the state or San Diego County, according to the DEA.Authorities said it was the sixth hash oil lab in San Diego County dismantled by federal authorities within the past three weeks. Explosions at two of those labs sent four people to hospitals with serious burns, the DEA said. The agency alleged that the Lemon Grove lab was in particular danger of an explosion or fire, due to high combustible gas readings at the premises, as well as a large amount of ethanol found at the lab. 1886

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A group of local doctors slammed San Diego's Board of Supervisors for not denouncing reported intimidation of the county's public health officer. The San Diego County Medical Society issued a statement, saying they are, "extremely disappointed by the failure of the Members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to stand up against the personal abuse, attempted intimidation and doxing of our County Public Health Officer, Dr. Wilma Wooten."SDCMS pointed specifically to public testimony at the BOS' hearing on Tuesday, during which a caller revealed Wooten's address. Some residents have called into the meetings recently to demand the county lift business and activity restrictions and the facial covering mandate under the public health order.RELATED: Fletcher, Gonzales to quarantine after close contact with COVID-19 positive person"There was no evidence that any of you attempted to defend Dr. Wooten, criticize this outrageous and inappropriate conduct, or express any personal sympathy to our County’s Public Health Officer for suffering this type of abuse for simply doing her job," SDCMS' statement read, in part. "This was a jarring failure of leadership, basic civility and simple human decency by those who are elected to serve the people of our County."Dr. Holly Yang, president of SDCMS, spoke with 10News Thursday saying, "We feel strongly that the board of supervisors should condemn this behavior and stop this behavior to protect our public health officers, especially here in San Diego County, Dr. Wooten.""Stand up for Dr. Wooten and make sure she is not subject to this behavior and immediately cut it off, say that it’s unacceptable, and protect her," said Yang.Thursday, BOS Chairman Greg Cox, and Supervisors Nathan Fletcher, Kristin Gaspar and Jim Desmond issued statements or spoke with 10News in support of Wooten: 1875

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Supervisor Nathan Fletcher and Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez will be under a 14-day quarantine after having close contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus, Fletcher said Thursday. The pair said they have tested negative for the virus and that they’ve had no symptoms, but that they will follow public health guidance to quarantine for 14 days."We were notified today that we have had close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. While we have both tested negative and have no symptoms, we will be following the public health guidance of a 14 day quarantine for those who have been in contact with a positive case," Fletcher said.
